Went for a nice curry at Imran's in Brum's Balti triangle tonight. At the end we ordered 2 mango kulfis and a coffee. The chap who took the order seemed rather unsure of himself and after quite a wait someone else came over to our table and said "We don't do mango coffee, we've got Espresso,.....etc"

One nice thing we did over Christmas, on the one day that no-one was too ill to go out, was have a meal at the Dabbling Duck in the impossibly idyllic village of Great Massingham in Norfolk. Good simple food, very relaxed. It used to be the Rose and Crown, has been closed for some time but now bought by some local people. It was foggy the day we went, but still v. pretty through the gloom. There are always ducks and geese in the road, so care is needed. (There are two large ponds.) It is prettier than this photo, which doesn't do justice to the shape of the village somehow.

And now I am happy because I am alone at last  Smiley

I think we also heard this owl from St Mary's Church in Great Massingham - or its ghost.

I had a great day out in the campervan today, grey and windy, but enjoyed a walk on the beach at Lelant, near St.Ives, a picnic at Zennor(more cold food, post Christmas!) and another stroll at Sennen Cove.

Belated Merry Yuletide to all. having been up to the wire with my in tray I am back at it again after a couple of days of laid back Dorset pubs and family catch-up. On a more torrid note, I have become entangled with a malfunctioning dongle to which I am about to return. I can only hope it has been content slumbered in the muso-type filing cabinet because causing me further vexation.

Sounds like it Marble! I am very much recommending the hope that by the advent of New Year all grammatical obfuscation will be remotified.

marvleflugal,
I thought you had problems with your instument. Did you fix it? I could not understand your message, but I am used to that.

I think you had really good time during Holidays. It is quiet here with us, but friends from Greece are here and we should have a few parties.

Hi Janthefan,
My friends are from Athens. The husband used to work here at the University. They are going to come for New Year celebration, but I don't know how long they will stay because their child is only two years old and might be tired and they will go home.

I don't know how it all will go because it is difficult to talk to them. I met them in town and it was difficult to talk because the child was screaming.  I managed to find out that a student is threatening to sue University because hi was expelled after failing too many courses. The mother of this student telephoned him and was so abusiive that hi hang up. This story cheered me up because Mr. TP had many problems with students last semester. People have problems and it is not the end of the world. The mother of above mentioned student said that he upset her baby (the child is 29). I hope we all get good therapy if only the child will let us.

I wish you good New Year, many interesting travels in your caravan in 2008.

Now that children can sue their parents, I don't suppose the legislature will have a problem with students suing the universities because they fail their courses.
