tonybob, I have students that play together in a band. I think they would like Regina Spektor. I will try to send them link. I have not seen them for a while and it will be a good excuse to make a contact.

School?  It was the Academy for the Daughters of Distressed Gentlefolk of course!  Grin

I lived in Netherfield first, then Carlton and went to school in Arnold.  My father managed a shoe shop, first in Netherfield and then on Exchange Walk in the centre of Nottingham.

Ah the memories.... Smiley

Why afraid? Bestwood?  I don't know where that is actually.  I remember Beeston....

I haven't been to Nottingham since my father died in 1988.  I expect it has changed a tremendous amount since then.

I've just googled Bestwood and Bestwood Park. Looks very nice -further north than I was.  I used to have to go cross-country to school - across the top of Mapperley Plains but actually didn't venture much further than that.

Oh no!  Is it all built-up now?  How awful.  It used to be beautiful.  I remember the school bus going from Netherfield through Carlton, then Gedling then up and down through the countryside to Mapperley Plains then down into Arnold.  Used to take an hour and in thick fog never made it at all!

Don't think I will go back now.  :-(

Lord Byron,

I sense you are not yourself at all today, Undecided  so I send you more love & best wishes.
My advice is to pop yourself home early, cuddle yourself up by the fire, have a nice milky hot chocolate, a smile, and go to bed nice 'n' early with a gentle Palestrina CD playing softly in the background, then lull yourself off to sleep....Zzzzzz !

Tomorrow is another bright, exciting day - be ready for it xxx   Kiss  xx Jan

Ho and ho again!.  Off to Buxton tomorrow to the delightful small opera house to see "La Fille du regiment".  I suspect the weather will be pretty cold there but it will be worth it to see this delightful and entertaining opera.
Cheers

No particular reason for posting this. I just thought it deserved a place in the Happy Room.

George, that wee beast looks blissfully contented. I currently have one to my left who is pretendng to be asleep on top of the book I intend to  takewith me up the wooden hill. Just as well I don`t need to put in some guitar practice.....

I've got a very large and contented pooch (see avatar) snoring extremely loudly on his bean bag.  He's more than usually happy because he knows Tuesday is Bridge night and he always has the left-over cakes.  He is never disappointed in this regard and I would swear he's actually smiling there!
