I believe Helmut Lachenmann's maternal grandmother was called Torso.

Nain (pronounced nine) for my welsh (paternal) grandmother (though really that's North welsh and she's south Welsh, she didn't like mamgi though) - grandfather on that side died long before any grandchildren came along.  Granny and Grampy for maternal grandparents.

I suspect it could be because they're mostly inane and pointless.

A, I noticed it yesterday....not just on the Happy thread, I'd go back and flag the ones I mean up if I could face it, but the perpetrators know who they are.

Surely lots of these posts are inane and pointless, Richard?

Granny Bones and Granny Solo.

On account of their respective dogs in case you were worrying.

Aaah, on second look I see. I was going to saying a Granny that plays the trombone and doing a solo on the trombone to!!! Grin

I wonder who is not being nice to Lord Byron?

This is of course true, but when pretty much all of someone's posts are both of those things, and not funny either, and relate hardly or not at all to anyone else, it's hardly surprising that some others like me find them tedious (and, in Byron's case, occasionally quite offensive).

Sorry, this isn't really Happy Room material...

Many congratulations, Mary! Lovely news for you after the stresses and ailments of this year. Plenty of time to prepare for babysitting duties Wink

Well done Janthefan - being of the appropriate gender your kind words have made him happy (and that is what a "Happy thread" is all about - what?).

Good luck with the new job BBM.  What will you be doing?  Is it what you're used to or do you have to learn a whole new function in life?

Okazaki will learn to know his paternal grandparents as Mimi and Gogo.

His maternal ones are Abuela and Abuelo, which judging from the evidence are much easier to say. But then he sees them more often.
