Mary, well done in tracking those original illustrations down! All I could find were the rather crass Disney ones Angry The originals were just lovely, weren`t they?

I slunk back to bed and managed another 2 hours sleep Smiley

Mornin' Mort!

Sorry to hear about your bad night. I don't think this young lady is fully rested either, somehow....

I'm jealous - I didn't Sad.

Gorgeous owl! What sort of owl is that? I wish I were an owl, then I wouldn't mind being awake at night.

My grandmother was a very bad sleeper. She did not sleep well all her life. I remember her trying to sleep in the morning after a bad night. She would sigh and walk at night. She slept a little in afternoon. She took some valerian drops and she had some stronger pills (some times she would give a small dose to me if I was nervous).

This did not make any effect on her health. She loved to walk (though she had osteo something and her back hurt her).
She looked very well into her 80s. She would live pass her 90s if there was any medical help in Russia. But unfortunately Mr Yeltzin (God Rest his soul) decided to change the system overnight and with no preparation what so ever. The strongest survived, the weaker (older) had to die. She was 89 when she died of neglect.
I am going to another room now to complain. I don't know how I got on to this topic here. Sorry.

I've never been a good sleeper and no matter how tired I am I wake up early in the morning. As a youngster I used to hate going to bed and I know that memory is very selective but I never remember feeling tired at bedtime. I wished then that I lived in Australia because I used to think how it was daytime there when it was night here and I wouldn't have to be in bed.

Some people don't need much sleep, perhaps. A husband of my friend tells me that he doesn't want to sleep more than 6 hours. There are so many interesting things he wants to do.

I suppose that's one way of looking at it, but when I don't sleep, I feel tired and cross and inefficient. I'm in the wrong room.

It might be a good idea, Mary. This will give possibility for people to come here if they can not sleep and look at the tread.

Awake after a nice refreshing sleep, listen to some tunes on radio 3, read a bit more of a good book, have a nice country walk, ahh, the consolations of being a sad lonely man are many and varied Smiley
