It's an incredibly beautiful day. Your tomato plants should do well if the weather keeps on like this.

One of my sons is buying a house with his girlfriend - or trying to. This makes me happy, because I think it's the modern equivalent of getting married. (You never know, he might do that as well!) I like the girl, so I was hoping he would. Only bad thing is the ridiculous price of houses in London, but the one they're trying to get is really nice. They both have flats to sell, so it could be worse.

Of course, the real solution is that poor people should not breed, that would help solve poverty once and for all Smiley

My son isn't poor at the moment, but he might well be by the time he's bought a whole house in London....

Remember to shock him by saying 'ensure it is near good schools darling' Grin

Hope they bag the house they want, Mary.

Something odd about your quotes there, Milly....but yes, I was thinking that one or two of the grandmothers I know spend more time looking after their grandchildren than the children's parents do. It depends whether they live near, and I live miles from London. Must say I have no wish to repeat the parenting experience, unless in special circumstances of course.

Son hasn't mentioned children anyway! (He has mentioned schools, though.)

It would be nicer to be near my nephews but nice that I can just visit for holidays and people often alter arrangements around me as 'he is not often here'. Smiley

But,well, you can see all the expense involved, houses, schools, cars, nanny, then you have uni and cars, deposits for flats etc. later on, i can just about afford the radio times and the odd concert ticket.

Indeed...and I've done all of that except the nanny. Old-fashioned as I am, I preferred to bring up my own children; but houses were cheaper then.
