Well, after those silly riddles on the Funny Ha-Ha Room, Ruby suggested to me by PM that we so needed a Riddles Room.

I'm not sure whether she meant 'needed' as in 'like a hole in the head', but here we are.

Anyway, after someone posed those riddles to me, I managed to catch them out with this old chestnut.....  (Answer a long way down at the bottom, and small)

Think of a number between 1 and 10

Multiply by 9

If the result has two digits, add them together

Now take off 5

Now think of the corresponding letter of the alphabet, e.g. 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, etc.

Think of a Country beginning with that letter

Now think of the 2nd Letter of that country's name.

Think of an Animal beginning with that letter.

Now think of the colour of the animal.

But I thought of an eel.  Sad

And how long have you been having these thoughts, Mr Martle? Are they pleasant thoughts, disturbing thoughts, worrying thoughts?

I don't know. All I can think about is an eel.  Undecided

I found this riddle, but can not find the answer to it.
I don't understand the first riddle here at all.
May be my brain stopped completely because of today's events.
I just can not think at all.

There is one that has a head without an eye,
And there's one that has an eye without a head.
You may find the answer if you try;
And when all is said,
Half the answer hangs upon a thread.

Now Mr Martle, can you tell us about this eel? Is it worried eel, perhaps shy eel?  Maybe it is with pie, mash and liquer? Maybe it is congar eel. Congar eel is very good. But maybe not with pie and mushy peas.

I think the answer is a pin and a needle, which reminds me of a nursery rhyme that isn't a riddle or a puzzle -

Needles and pins,
Needles and pins,
When a man marries
His trouble begins.

which is not a very good thing to teach young children.

Well I must think inside the box too much, or just have a very limited knowledge of countries beginning with D and animals beginning with E - worked for me.  Smiley

Thank you Mary Chambers.
I would not guess in many years about the answer. But when you said it I can see that you are right.

Sorry for interrupting. I am nervous.

Then again Mary, it could easily be

Needles and pins,
Needles and pins,
When a maid marries
Her trouble begins.

Not much better either really Sad

Ruby posted the answer a couple of minutes before I did, but I hadn't seen her post.
