Yes, very funny, but a combination of high expectations and the passage being penned before my time raised in me the feeling of regret that comes with a missed opportunity.

Actually, for one of our most sustained flights of r3ok fancy, this thread takes some beating. When Ollie lost his CD. This is page 6, but it's worth a read through from the beginning.  Cheesy Cheesy

Ah yes, that was a good one, Marts. Shame Ollie finally found the CD eventually Cheesy

Edit. Thinking about it, George's 'custard' post (as mentioned by IGI) probably deserves some kind of award. A true r3ok classic. Applause applause GG!

'Custard' was a truly great moment (surpassing GG's comment on intercourse between a railway station and an oil depot from TOP).

The spearated at birth thread has had some notable moments including this, and I'm sure the picture was used in many other chortle-worthy posts of historical importance.

Just realised that the link takes you to the right place then fills out the pictures so you end up looking at the wrong message.  Look at reply #88

These sort of moments go by occasionally, and might not be viewed as great.. But they are indications of what a great place this is.  I think it's things like this that make me stay here:

I hope I respect Susandoris and her beliefs as she would respect mine.  I am very pleased she posts here, and glad to hear what she has to say.  If she says she is an atheist and an optimist, then I accept that.
Most assuredly I respect your beliefs ... and sensitivity, and knowledge and understanding of poetry and your ability to convey your feelings on it. Thank yoo for the comment about posting here! It is a privilege to be amongst so many very knowledgeable people, mainly on music of course, but on so many other subjects as well.

Thank you Don Zhivago and Susan D and everyone else who has momnts like this.

Tommo

PS  Now you can go back to greatest historical moments

Well worth pointing that out, Tommo. Thanks. For the vast majority of the time, people here respect each other's views (because for the vast majority of the time they are couched in respectful terms).  Kiss

Jan, if you can remember key words from those side-splitting moments, do a search for them via the homepage.

Please forgive me posting something where I was involved, but this was a cracker:

One post I do in particular want to move over here is a response to a dream from Tommo Smiley

Milly, I bet you slept well last night!

Anyway, my dream from last night.  It took place in a house I've dreamt up before, which is something like that flat Frank Lloyd Wright House.

I remember comng out of the house and going down the drive to move my car.  When I got to the parking space, I found two other cars crammed in there, which wasn't surprising, as there seemed to have been a party at the house, with lots of people.  The grey car was only about a centimetre away from mine and the red was scrunched up against that so that their front panels were a bit wonky.  I decided not to bother moving, especially as I'd had a few drinks the night before.

I walked back up the drive, and was chased by a small remote control Peugot 207, which bit at my ankles.  Some kids were controlling it from down the road.

Then I found may way into the canteen of the house (which wasn't there last time I dreamed this place).  I sat at a table which had a large vase of flowers on it.  Martle walked into the canteen dressed as a conductor, with a satchell over his shoulder.  He barged past my table and his satchell went right through the flowers.  So, realising he'd damanged some goods, he picked up he whole bunch and bought them from the canteen.

I then gave the very fat lady who ran the canteen a donation for the upkeep of the place.  Her great chubby hands grabbed me round the face and she kissed me on the lips.

[That was enough to wake me up.]

Tommo

Dream sequence:

(now deleted from that other place)

It's no longer in our thread (where it should be on page 13), as Ian removed it when a) he first left and b) we could delete messages.  But I retrieved it from M&S.

I still don't understand what that man who looks like Christopher Ecclestone is doing between Marty and the broken vase ... He somehow reminds me of a man who's been slashed violently across the face and disfigured for life, but I can't quite make the connection.

Is Ian's rant about baked beans still to be found anywhere? I seem to recall that as a highlight of the good old days ... Roll Eyes

Amazing how many 'hits' you get on the r3 Search facility for 'baked beans'. Sadly, I can't find any that lead back to Ian's polemic on this often maligned pulse. Drat.
