Saw these 2 strolling around by the boundary at the match at Harborne yesterday. There were a few ducks out in the middle too, Harborne's batting was pretty awful!

I saw something today I've never seen before at the end of Warwickshire's innings against Middlesex - there were two runners on the field

I can't imagine that situation lasting long before there was a run-out!

Really enjoying this series against NZ - both sides have an equal propensity to self-destruct, which keeps things interesting!

Agreed, trj. The test between the West Indies and Australia was entertaining for similar reasons; the Ozzies 25-5 in their second innings before setting the WI 287 to win. Lee and Clark reduced the WI to 82-6 before an exciting rearguard action by the tail took place, aided by the fact that Australia don't seem to have much back-up bowling. MacGill looked really poor.

tonybob's cricket thread isn't quite the same without tonybob

I saw a bit of cricket today despite the weather, it was only Harborne 2nd XI but I enjoyed it, hadn't seen a game since last weekend.

I took this pic today at a pre-season friendly at Harborne. It shows one of the opposition bowlers who had a most peculiar action - this was the nearest I could get to capturing it:

Howzat for a delayed response? (Almost a whole season). Glad someone else noticed my pic tho tinners.

I've taken fewer cricket pictures this season, to be honest they mostly look the same after a while.

I've very sad the season's nearly over. It didn't help that the final test match for the summer ended by the 12th August!

Quite how my beloved Hampshire escaped with (a) a victory and (b) without a points deduction for the pitch yesterday, I just don't know.  Grin

without a points deduction for the pitch yesterday

That baffled me too IGI. Still at least they prepared an "interesting" pitch, unlike that at Edgbaston which produced another bore draw. I went on the first 3 days but 2 hours was enough for me yesterday, as I was falling asleep. The only result in non-1-day games at Edgbaston this season has been the test

So I didn't bother today but went to Harborne instead. There was a really exciting, close finish, though the game was not without incident - one of the opposition "took" a catch at deep square leg when it was clear to many, myself included, that he hadn't caught it cleanly. He claimed the catch, which led to one of the Harborne players going out onto the field to accuse him of being a cheat - which he obviously was. He got a lot of stick when he came out to bat. However cheats do prosper, since his side won by 1 wicket Angry

I think the pitch could be more to do with the fact that this was Hampshire's first home game away from the Rose Bowl since they moved there in 2001. The last championship match played at May's Bounty, Basingstoke, was in 2000...where it also escaped a points deduction. I do wish they'd go back to playing at Dean Park, Bournemouth, where I spent many happy days in the 80s.

And that was also against Durham - they must feel a bit hard done by!

I'm amazed that they've been at the Rose Bowl for so long, seems only like yesterday that they moved there. I briefly supported Hampshire when I was living in Portsmouth, saw them play at the United Services Ground in the city.
