Oops! I Should have posted this here, shouldn't I?

After the elation of yesterday's hat-trick from Sidey, this is truly atrocious: England currently 61-7. Cry

Just looked at the Warwickshire website and they've got a countdown till the start of their season - currently 37d 12h 28m 20s. Very close to the amount of time I've been logged into r3ok Cheesy

Can't wait for the season to start.

Worcs and Warks are planning to play a pre-season friendly on 1 April at New Road - hope it's stopped snowing by then Cheesy

Warks' first home game is another friendly against Worcs on 7 April. I'll be going to that if the weather is anywhere near decent.

The new season is well under way at Edgbaston. The first serious game - Warks v Worcs 4 days  - started on Wednesday and I was there on the first day and today. Today was even colder than Wednesday, the wind was freezing. I survived until 3pm but then I came home to try to warm up. Also Warks are heading for defeat Sad unless the rain saves them tomorrow - which looks quite possible.

I've made a resolution to get back into cricket this year, having been a huge fan but then having lost touch, except with major news, in recent years.

What does anyone think of the India 20/20 issue? From an cricketing ignoramus's point of view, it spells disaster for the international game, does not it?

(And anyway, where the hell is tonybob?  Huh )

Had a great day's cricket-watching at Ombersley today, Worcs 2nds vs Lancs. They only started a few minutes late following the overnight rain and the weather was often very pleasant, enabling me to take my coat off, though I had to put it back on when a few large clouds obscured the sun. It's a lovely little ground and I took some pictures, both of the ground and of the local church, but I've been messing around with my new laptop since I got home so I haven't uploaded them yet. Play finished a few minutes after 7. My face, especially my nose, is quite red!

Go for it martle, you know you're missing it Grin Not sure what impact the Indian 20/20 will have. Cricket has survived previous upsets like Kerry Packer, so who knows?

Here's one of my pics from yesterday showing the Worcs keeper Josh Knappett out LBW. I'm tempted to ask MabelJane to explain the LBW law but I doubt she'll look in on this thread Cheesy

It's actually very difficult to get a good "wicket" photo even if you have a motor drive and shoot away all day long. I hardly took any pix yesterday but I just happened to snap this one - not that it's a good "wicket" photo - you need to have the ball shattering the stumps for that.

I took this pic today at a pre-season friendly at Harborne. It shows one of the opposition bowlers who had a most peculiar action - this was the nearest I could get to capturing it:

One of the Harborne players said to me that he looked a bit like Murali. I thought it was going to be a nice day today, the forecast was good but it didn't turn out to be that warm - when the game finished at 6-35 I was wearing 4 layers of clothing.

when the game finished at 6-35

Is that the time or the score?

(I suppose you'd have to be Australian to ask that, on reflection...)

A story I heard when training as a guide for Tate Modern in relation to Michael Craig-Martin's An Oak Tree, which is in fact a glass of water.

When it was sent for exhibition in Australia the customs officer was puzzled that a glass of water should be called an oak tree.  After discussion with the Tate people he said "Well, OK, cobbers, that's an oak tree if you say so.  But you'll never convince me those eleven guys who just went through from the UK are a cricket team."

I saw something today I've never seen before at the end of Warwickshire's innings against Middlesex - there were two runners on the field as both Ian Salisbury and Monde Zondeki had injuries. Hence there were actually four batsmen on the field. I won't attempt to explain exactly how it works for those who don't know but the runner does the running after the injured batsman has played the shot.

Warwickshire have been extremely unlucky as far as injuries go in this match since they've also lost their skipper Darren Maddy with a broken thumb.

I expected to see three substitutes when Warks came out to field again but Salisbury was fielding in the slips, so there were only two - presumably he wasn't going to be chasing anything to the boundary.
