I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

Louis Andriessen De Staat at as high a volume as your speakers/ neighbours can take is GREAT for those angry days. Then, put on De Styl to feel a bit more upbeat, and then dig out The Midsummer Marriage and you will be fit to conquer the world...

PS Mort - couldn't agree more with your carp and billhooks assessment of appraisals.

Let us get on with our jobs, cut out Inhuman Remains except for the things where they are there to help and defend us against the Evil Ones at the top... Any one else here have Peer Review? Another load of old clobbers... that's where they give a colleague and (former) friend the loaded gun instead of doing the business themselves...

Ducks have right attitude to their lives:

I think water runs right down their backs.
Not feeling grumpy at all, and neither are these two

I took this on Christmas Day 2004. (click on image to see large version)

I really cannot think of an appropriate composer or music to accompany my feelings on this farcial procedure. Grr.
May I recommend perhaps, the march from Prokofiev's Love of Three Oranges?

Ros,

Peer Review? Argghhh! Another abomination. And a great opportunity for knife throwing by ask coverers.

Grumpy? Me?  Nah.

Andy, I love your ducks. You captured the ducks and the water so well. I love their colours. They look like real to me.

Well I am grumpy about the misrepresentation that photograph implies to me. Where's the other drake? Wink

Ducks are very good this way. They decide who is with who and they stay this way (at least for a season I think).
There are birds that stay together for life. This is very sweet.

I have experience here looking at a woman from the same country who is a hunter and a go getter.
She already broke one family and left two children in a difficult situation and now she is working her way up.
One can see it and can do nothing. On the other hand why should one care.

Clockwise and anticlockwise screwing! 's enough to put a girl off it for life! I shall think twice before offering bread to the little pervs in future.

I agree with you, Kitty.
It is a fascinating article.

I will never look at ducks the same way again.

I sent the duck report to a colleague, who was reminded of this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2814293.stm

Do you wonder if the team of Elmer Fudds, having achieved their avian assassination mission in 2003 then went on to assassinate R3 in the guise of RW?  Might explain a lot....

Gawd ! after reading about those ducks I'm having a hot flush !

One of life's unanswered questions :

Why do birds only mate with their own species?

Why doesn't a goldfinch mate with a greenfinch? or a sparrow with a blackbird?

Answers on a postcard please....is it all to do with this cloacal kiss thingy??

Hey Ho, off to the Happy room with me...
