Growl.
I just got back from a very enjoyable discussion with my old tutor (in both senses of the word) only to find that someone's come into my house, cooked chicken bhoona and left an awful mess for me to clear up.
Oh dear, that person was me.

Bother. I'll make my packed lunch tomorrow morning. I'm off to bed.
Night.

I'm sure everyone else is fed up with this weather as well. June was the wettest since records began in 1914 (at least) - see here.

It's ruining my cricket watching. I didn't go to the England-West Indies game today, where they seem to have played relatively uninterruptedly, but instead went to a match at my local club. When I got there the game had already been abandoned and everyone had gone home - or else they never turned up in the first place!  Angry

Yes, I know I'd be even grumpier if my house had been flooded.

I've just been reading about Hull.  Some people won't be able to move back into their homes for 6-12 months!!  Shocked   It's incredible.  I've never known anything like this in so many areas.

I shall never complain about windblown sand again!

(Well actually I might later on when the gales come and everybody along here is buried again... Grin)

It must be just terrible, especially if you aren't insured, and lots of these people aren't. Even if you are, irreplaceble things like photographs are often damaged beyond recovery. Farmers are suffering a lot, too - ruined crops.

As if farmers haven't suffered enough in recent years already.

Going down on the train last week really brought it all home; field after field was turned into a lake, and where there was no water, the crops were bashed flat. Coming back I was sitting next to a German lady who'd just been to Switzerland, and she was saying that the upper reaches of the Rhine had suffered similarly.

Now this is time to panic. Is there going to be enough food for all of us next year? What will happen to poor countries that can not pay for food?

One of the villages near us is very flooded - the high street is only half above water at the moment and more rain is forecast.

not happy. not happy at all.  Angry Angry Angry Angry

Turned on computer, opened MediaMonkey, headed straight for the music, and......

it was gone. all of it. nothing left. zilch. zip. 'My Music' completely empty. some of it I no longer had copies of either. at least the music items I had saved on my desktop hadn't gone as well.

You'd better tell us what of importance to you has been lost: perhaps between us we can reconstitute most of it...

eruanto, have you done a straightforward search of your hard drives for the different file types your music was saved as?

Bryn, I have - the vast majority was .mp3, but the only specimens that appear are the ones on my desktop.

Ron, that's a very kind offer, but it was stuff that I should have actually bought myself long ago. It shouldn't be that hard to find again anyway - it will just mean lots of trips to various libraries...  Smiley

Well, that does seem rather strange. You have scanned for nasties, using up to date definitions, haven't you?

How about file recovery software? As long as the files haven't actually been overwritten yet, it ought to be possible to save some of them, at least, surely?

Sad well well well. upon further investigation i find that other family members were "led astray" by asking for remote assistance this afternoon. they thought they were talking to someone they weren't.  Angry Angry Angry Angry. *huff*. That's one feature I won't be keeping enabled.  Sad

better get re-ripping, spose.

As Ron says, you know where to find us all if necessary.
