OMIGOD!! I can`t decide whether ketchup on cake is more disgusting than ketchup drizzled on black pudding, Gross, gross, gross!  Bleeghhh!

I would vote for the former myself without a moment's hesitation (I presume you mean sweet-chilli sauce on black pudding for the latter).

Sweet chilli sauce or ketchup, both would be equally gross anywhere near black pudding. Or cake.

Mort, although I am fond of ketchup, I agree it shouldn't be allowed anywhere near cakes!

Thanks SS  Kiss I'd expected to be agreeing to a completion date any day soon so this was an unpleasant surprise. Not a good time to be putting the house back on the market. Grump, grump, grumpity grump.

Commiserations Mabeljane.  Not a good time at all.  There are loads for sale around here.  Last year I put my own on the market for a few months but when it didn't go, I decided to give it a makeover and stay.  Most of the ones for sale along here were for sale at the same time I was and they still haven't gone.  They're dropping the prices by huge chunks and still no interest.  I think unless people are absolutely desperate and have no choice they'd be better taking their properties off the market for a while and riding out the storm.  I also think that having a for sale board up for ages makes it look as though there's a problem and then people can come along and make silly offers.  Coming up to Christmas usually isn't a good time.  Houses usually sell more easily in the summer.

Which it had.  Cry
The survey was fine and we were about to have a SOLD sign added. I feel sorry for our buyers too as I know they were really keen to buy it. Maybe if they reduce the price of theirs for a quick sale we won't lose them - but we might have to reduce and it'll now be months before we can move so we'll probably lose ours... Sad

Oh, poor you, MabelJane.  This time last year I was making frantic daily phone calls to useless conveyancers and soon vowed never to move house again.  Hope all works out for you soon Kiss

MJ, that was my story nearly two years ago, so I know exactly how you feel: the 'Sold' sign had been up for a couple of months, and then the prazzock backed out on the very day that exchange was due, ten days before I was to leave for a trek in Peru. Grumpum maximum, with a doubt.

Weren't you in Scotland then Ron? Thought you can't back out there, certainly not at the last minute as in your case.

I'm sorry to read this, MJ.  I don't look in on the conversational threads very often - last I heard you were busy packing and pretty much waiting for the ink to dry on the conveyancing documents.  I'm sure you'll keep your spirits up but it must still be a huge disappointment for you.  Let's hope something happens soon to resolve the situation.  Meantime, go to Home and Bargain and get a big bag of liquorice.

That was when I was down South, MJ: it certainly couldn't have happened here.

We had to move twice in a hurry and were forced to sell quickly. Once we lost a lot of money when bubble burst in Toronto. The second time we were luckier although we had to pay penalty. Conditions of the market make big difference.
One of my friends telles me that she is happy when things are bad because it can become better after a while. One has to worry when things are good.
Best wishes MabelJane. I am sorry to hear about the house, but there  will be good news soon too.

House buying/selling is a nightmare. I've been in this one since 1979, and even though I suspect it's crumbling round me, I'm going to stay in it. Can't face moving.

Nice to hear from you, t-p, even if it is on the Grumpy page!
