Phew - well if Mort can say it, and she's a Nominee, it's probably alright, then?

Enjoy the curry, Richard!

Cheers from a largely curryless land...

So, what`s the curry, Richard?? Veg, lamb, chook? Is there Chana Masala? What type of rice?  Moi? Torture myself with culinary fantasies?  Sob sob sob.

Have just got back after 2 weeks away and frankly this messageboard has induced my first post-holiday grump. I've spent about 2 hours fruitlessly trying to work out what went on that seems to have upset some people so much and I can't be bothered any more. I think I'll sit out for a while and see if things return to more-or-less "normal".  Sad

But I'll probably vote in the moderator election once people have decided on which voting system to use. How depressing.  Huh

Ho!  How thoroughly delightful to hear again the magical sound of "Hoooooooooooooooooon".  Once a "gate" player, always a "gate" player.  Thankyou for raising fond memories in mee bosom.
Cheers

Would anyone kindly explain/let me in on the joke?  Kiss

I don't remember how it happened, but for some reason, before the original Radio Three boards were "restructured" resulting in our exodus to this board, there was a cyber-knees-up with everyone contributing something musically (more or less).

Oliver Sudden gave an outstanding performance on a tubular five-barred gate, a virtuosic instrument no longer taught in conservatories. The bit I do remember is that Oliver very cleverly combined percussive and wind techniques, which are best rendered textually as "HooooOOOooon"-ing.

More or less.

No, I'm not a complete idiot. I'm only a halfwit. In fact I'm actually a catfish.

Aha, the Wiki explanation adds some more detail.... and there I was thinking it referred to Britain's former Minister for War? Wink

I announced my self an hour ago on the "Welcome" thread, and after 21 viewings nobody has replied. It's enough to make even the newest newcomer grump.

Tsk tsk. Where are our manners? Now Ena, would you prefer a cuppa or a Milk Stout?
