To be honest Anna, yes it is. I have been accused of a great deal of unfair things during the past few days. I am sad, jealous, not able to think of music after 1895. I am a backwards looking teacher, my opinions are not important because they don't agree with those of this amazing new member. My opinions should be ignored. I don't know what music is,I can't say what is not music.... so ..........

YES I am proud that I have done something even if it is not of any pleasure to anyone

Bryn has been the main antagonist. I hope you are proud of him.

No A, I have not been proud of Bryn. nor any other person here

I have been very sad at various people going through some mid-life crisis and taking it out on other people and destroying this bored.  Our love of music should unite us, not divide us.

Personally, if it were not for Ron and his Scottish potato recipes I wouldn't bother even coming here again

A, from what I can see, not having been here very much for a while, you haven't been "accused" of anything, it's just that if you admit to having a completely closed mind to something it's hardly likely that your opinions on that subject are going to be taken very seriously.

I was rather grumpy earlier this evening because my journey home was massively slowed down by a broken-down bus blocking one entire lane of the A406. I bet it was sabotaged by the EVIL BRYN!!!!!!!!

'A', the antagonism that has been generated here has come from a coordinated campaign of deprecation of the work of a new contributor to these boards by a double-act. It's been done with a bit of hard cop/soft cop, but the coordination is plain to see. The pair of you have gone out of your way to continue and develop that antagonism by taking on the roles I ascribed to you. Even a light-hearted reference to the then imminent broadcast of Sibelius's Tapiola was taken up to make a final melodramatic flourish to terminate the discussion. You should both be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves. You in particular owe an apology not only to Matthew but to to all those starting out and finding their own way in developing our musical culture.

Yass, Yass, Yass, but more importantly, anyone got any receipts for Arran Victory purple potatoes - let's stick with important issues!  Support Scottish Farmers - buy something knobbly!  As recommended by Big Ron.

Sorry (yawn) this whole thread is getting so self-righteous and, well, worthy.  One would think you were all Welsh Methodists fingering your fingerless mittens in the hope of fumbling upon your frozen fingers.

A, I'm sorry but I have to agree with Bryn, although I wouldn't adopy his typically combative tone  Wink. You asked on another thread (I think) why you HAVE to like new music. Of course, you don't, and no-one suggested you do! (I dislike Delius, love a lot of Baroque violin playing, love DSCH quartets etc. etc.) - the point is simply that to say so is one thing, to disparage others for liking something, or finding it interesting is another, if it's purely on the grounds that you don't. So, to accuse Matthew (the hapless porn in this very tired argument) of 'conning' us, or of claiming something is music/musical in the face of your disagreement with such a claim, is simply rude, especially in view of the efforts he has made to address those issues. A far better course of action would be to try to explain WHY you find these ideas so repellent. Because I for one, have no idea.

And, A, I don't think it was Bryn who outed Baz...  Roll Eyes

Fork me, A, baz ain't never sent me no cds!!

Wot you on about girl?

Also, I never tried to expose him!  Did I?  Oh, I think I looked out for him at Euston when I was a juggling nun under the tuition of Father Bernadette.  But I dropped me oranges and by then he had done a runner.

martle, it it true that I did not 'out' Baz. I did, however, make reference to that outing and mention his broad field of work (which is pretty obvious anyway) and general geographical area in which he operated, (which again was pretty obvious from messages posted by A). Following his petulant outburst in response to my reference to the Tapiola broadcast I was angry enough to use both his and A's forenames in a message addressed to the moderators. It should have been sent as a PM, but I posted it on the board. autoharp was quite right to pull me up in that. The point I made in that message, that Baz and A's messages should remain as they said a great deal more about them than other, stands.

Do pay attention at the back there. It was to me that A said Baz sent CDs, not you, and we did indeed exchange some. As I have also pointed out here, in general I find his contributions, both satirical and musical, very enjoyable. My beef is the reception he and A granted to a new contributor, especially as I recommended that he post about his project here and on other similarly focused message boards.

Oh for goodness sake Bryn get real! (And sorry we were cut off unexpectedly from the other thread). I gave Matthew a genuinely nice welcome, and in doing so asked him two questions about his project. Neither has been properly answered either by you or him.

There has been no concerted effort between me and A (or anyone else) to rubbish him. I genuinely hope his project succeeds, but (for the reasons I've already given) I cannot see a way of supporting it. End of story.
