Smallish rant at nobody in particular, just the world in general.
Got back from the hospital at 10pm.  They've moved the other half to a really sh*tty run-down ward with about 486 beds from a nice cosy one with only 3.  Stayed well into extra time to settle him in etc. then got outside, switched the phone on and realised I had 4 texts to reply to and at least 2 phone calls to make before I could set off.

Ended up buying a curry from Asda for my tea thinking I'd probably eat less than half of it.  Ate most of it.  Cue horrid indigestion.  Will most likely be up till midnight at least.  Getting tired and grumpy now.  Sorry. Thanks for listening.  Well, reading.  Smiley x

(and WHY is he in Wakefield?? Why not Leeds, where he lives?  Tsk....)

(Also - why do people snowboard?  Why?Huh Tsk.)

That's enough to draw anyone inexorably into the dreaded GOR Room, Ruby. How long is he going to be in hospital?

You've just inspired a submerged 'WHY?' Ruby.
While I was in casualty fading in and out of shock and conciousness after I was mugged, I was alarmed to see that they show boxing on the TVs... I wasn't the only one in the room who'd been bashed around the head (though, even though I do say so myself, I was the most impressive-looking) and given that it took rather a long time to see me, my head injuries must have been comparatively mild - now that's a scary thought- why would they be showing boxing of all things? I still get freaked out if there's a boxing match on TV.

Well I'm hoping he'll be out tomorrow.  Fingers and all sorts else crossed.  Then of course I have to deal with him at home without the help of infinitely patient nurses....  Wink

Good God hh, that's not good.  I had a similar thought yesterday, albeit with much lesser consequences, but in the Inpatients' stupidly titled "Arrivals Lounge" (do they really think people will be reminded of going on holiday?) they had the TV stuck fast on ITV.  Now I have a legendary loathing of ITV but it was made worse yesterday by having to sit through the Jeremy Kyle show, which seemed to consist entirely of people screaming at each other.

Just how exactly is this meant to relax people who have turned up to be dissected and who may be feeling a little fraught?  I'm sure BBC1 would have been calmer if equally dull (since all daytime TV is awful.)

Thanks Ron, I'm just suddenly a bit tired again.  It's such a minor procedure really but he does hate being in hospitals - it's one of those things where you just wish you could wave a magic wand and make it all go away for someone.  Hey ho.  Smiley

Thanks all. It's nice to be able to come on here for a vent in a very empty house.  Smiley

Oh actually I wonder if anyone can help with something... they've put wires in to hold the bones together.  Does anyone know whether you get a local/general to have wires out for that sort of thing, or do they make you suffer?  If it's the latter I won't tell him...  I have visions of my mum getting her chest drain out last year.  Ouch...

Very much along the same TV lines: the last time I flew from Edinburgh the screen in the holding area next to the departure gate was tuned to a station showing a documentary about an air disaster. Very reassuring.

Seriously?  That's insane. I'd have gone home again and asked for a refund!

hh - I do feel for you with that one.  Whilst I've not been there myself, thank heavens, a good friend was attacked in Shepherd's Bush years and years ago and it took her more years and years to get over it...  Boxing on TV in a hospital is just... well... I can't even think of a suitable word.   Angry Angry

Well that was in a long time ago, in another country, and it's been rehearsed extensively both on this board and at tOP (thanks unpaid counsellors!).
Best of luck with everything other-half-related. Sounds like you'll be kept busy but he's lucky to have you there. I imagine he'll be extremely happy to escape from hospitals. They tend to be noisy and alarming places in my experience.

Yes I'm sure he will!  As will I.
OK well it's WAY past my bedtime and I think the indigestion may have subsided.  Night all - thanks for being around.  You're all stars...  Smiley Kiss
