a casserole of sorts is making itself.  I don't quite know how I managed to justify it to myself though, given that I haven't eaten properly since breakfast, and even that was pretty modest.  Two hours left.  Ho-humm.

Bah - looks like someone who was born looking like she'd already spent many years under the plastic surgeon's knife.

Your understandable "bah" notwithstanding, I cannot help but wonder of just how many people one might reasonably consider saying that - and, as a corollary thereto, of how much music and its performance might one consider saying something similar? And do you suppose that the average plastic surgeon regularly extracts as much money out of his/her customers as does the average corporate lawyer from his/hers? (and might anyone reasonably be expected to tell the difference, if any?)...

In one of those shots she looks a bit like Susanna Eastburn.

Well fit, I'd say. Grin

Cooking here tonight:  the mysterious black salsify from the veg box - I've found a recipe for black salsify fritters - you peel it, steam it, mash it and shallow-fry in a little butter.  It's accompanying pork chops from our village butcher (most of his meat is locally sourced, but I don't think I've ever seen a piggery in Sussex).

Blimey, PW! You learn something new every day at this place. Never heard of the stuff before.

Can you recommend your butcher? I'm always on the look-out for good ones. My local one (Canham's) is good-ish, but terribly expensive.

I can't remember what I did with salsify the last time I had it.
I know I followed a recipe but can't remember where it came from.
It was possibly a gratin.

and bluetits all year round.

Speaking of which, tonight I'm griddling a chicken breast, which I'll be serving with cabbage and lime juice.
I'd do something more elaborate but having just had my hour of darkness, I'm quite hungry.
