Happy b'day, Chaffers.

Just what does your dish chafe, anyhow?

Happy Birthday, friend!

Any plans to be up in Chicago anytime in September?  I can take you for a birthday beer at The Hopleaf.   Smiley
Yes, I can pour it straight into my cochlea

AMC, Tommo, Ian, Kitty, martaaaaa

Thanks to you too! Gosh!

The dish itself doesn't chafe, it is a receptacle for chafing, ideal for making Welsh rarebit.

This is apparently a chafing dish (very posh, with gold-plated bits) but I don't understand how you could make Welsh rarebit in it.  I thought Welsh rarebit was like cheese on toast...

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

thank you Mabel, tony, and tp. I have never prepared Welsh rarebit, nor do I own a chafing dish. Why I chose that as a handle remains a mystery to me.

My father was the keeper of the Eddystone Light,
He slept with a mermaid one fine night.
Out of this union there came three:
A porpoise and a porgy and the other was me!

Yo ho ho, the wind blows free,
Oh for the life on the rolling sea!

“Oh, what has become of my children three?”
My mother then inquired of me.
"One’s on exhibit as a talking fish
The other was served in a chafing dish."

Yo ho ho, the wind blows free,
Oh for the life on the rolling sea!

Happy birthday!!!

I like Chafing Dish: his remark "I suppose amusing historical trivia is one of the dim perks of having a friend like pim derks" has become a sort of proverb in my social life.

Smiley Smiley Smiley Do you normally socialize in English?

Anyway, thank you, pim, for the e-cake, I didn't eat any cake, but instead went out for ice cream but instead had a beer, if you follow me. Actually, I had a beer whether you follow me or not.

Was kind of beer what is Chafing Dish? Here we have different brands, but there are some American brands.
I myself would take ice cream. I still remember good ice cream in your land. May be they don't have the nice big shops with ice cream now?
You still can have ice cream. Here it is.

It's not usual to use English phrases in Dutch conversations, c-f. Wink

Green apples and cheese is right in English and in Fries.

Sorry, didn't get round to adding birthday greetings to Mr Dish but I thought he was doing ok for wishes anyway. Today is the birthday of board member tapiola according to the calendar, a member with 53 posts to his name although I don't recall seeing him around lately. But if you are lurking tapiola, happy birthday.
