Although wheelz seems to have posted but little since joining, he's on the calendar as having a birthday today, and on the off-chance that he may still drop in from time to time, I'll take this opportunity of wishing him Many Happies, just in case he does.

From Vincenzo Bellini

Ladies and Gemtlemens

Toady is most important day in year of life of member. This member he not stand up much here, but has been very big up another place and given many great pleasurings in the past. I refeering to the Duke of Dalston, the Onorable of Olympic Village, Le Tombeau de Cooperman: he celebtaring day of his birthings right now. I send you many greetings, Tombeau, for your day; tonight for your special meal, maybe I serve you Wright...on a silver charger. Otherwise, salami.

That Ron Duogh, the one you play the games of letters with, he would wish you grettings too, if I let him out of locked chamber until is finished latest opera libretto Bruno nella difficultà or La Rocca del Nord; he not know yet whether the virgin she play big part in it or no, another will be his darling. Me, I no care either way.

Ciao.

Happy birthday LTdC

Your contributions to this board are few, but what they lack in quantity they more than make up for in quality.

Thanks so much for all the fun you have provided.

Tommo

PS Vinnie Jones sends his felicitations too.

                            London Borough of Hackneyed

Chief Executive: Roger Wright

I have been asked by LeTombeauDeCoperman, Freeman of the Borough, to thank everyone for their birthday wishes. Unfortunately, due to my new strict environmental health regulations, which ban live music after 7pm, his birthday party celebrations had to be curtailed on account of the Madness tribute band having to leave early. I had the same band at my birthday party, but the only song they played on that occasion was “Embarrassment”.

There is, however, better news on this year’s pantomime, Aladdin, which will now be performed at the Hackneyed Empire. As you may recall, the original plan was to stage it as an open-air production in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington.

However, when the plans were presented at a full council meeting there was considerable opposition. Councillor Adès described the plan as “madness” and got so worked up that I thought he was going to have a cardiac arrest. Councillor Prokofiev (Parks & Recreation Committee) also spoke out forcefully, especially for plans to use the park’s ornamental lake. He cited past problems with the lake, such as the disappearing duck (thought to be linked to the act of vandalism which resulted in a wolf escaping from the children’s zoo) and last winter’s unfortunate incident, when a party of visiting Germans ignored the thin ice warning signs.

Unfortunately, Councillor Prokofiev has also vetoed Mr Bellini’s involvement in the production. He blames Mr Bellini’s Capuleti e i Montecchi for the rising number of local Romeos who are clambering over the park gates after dark. He was backed by Councillor Nielsen who said that the problem was “inextinguishable.”

Councillor Nielsen was also heard to mutter oaths, look and leer* at the more expansive of the staff before temperamentally retiring with some commotion. Keeping the whole masquerade from being serenaded in vain by the press was no simple matter.

(that's uudslukkelige to you)

From Vincenzo Bellini

Mama mia!

Il mio caro Tombo, I hear the Wright-guard he smash our plannings for celebtarion. What a dog in the mangle! No wonderings that the executive lavabo at R3 he have the "Killjoy was here" scratching on the door: scratch I gessing with a verity sharp implementation. I am so desolated, I listen to whole of In Tune tonight without I notice it Shorn or his pet, Rock. What we do? How we make the celebtartion? I call that Dough. I unlock the door, I give him food and water, I tell him forget my libretto - even the scene with the three people you just don't make right - just please, please, per piacere, you find a way to make my Tombo happy. Find a way to by-pass that Hackneyed Wright.

Tombo, Tombo, you know what he do? He stand up on his chair (despite the chains) and bawl like Del Monaco on an off night "Forget your opera? Forget....Your....Opera? After the trouble I had with that trio last night?" And I tell you Tombo, I don't know whether he cry like a hyena or laugh like bambino. I never hear that noise before. A hundred years and infinite manuscript paper, I never notate it...

So, mi amico, your birthing day meal, she off. Finito. But Vincenzo, he have the idea: we celebrare Christmas instead, no? We have a party then, yes?

You think over it.

Ciao,

Vincenzo
