Have you all seen this new R3 forum started by some of the FoR3.   Although this is not an official BBC board - it looks good to me.  It doesn't have the facilities yet that this one has - but it is yet another choice for us.  The more the merrier!

http://www.for3.org/forums/index.php

Do please have a look and let's give this one a fair chance also.

Looks nice, and FoR3-corporate  Wink

f-f mentioned last week that the forum was getting set up.

Looks like the content will be very specific to FoR3 and their concerns with Radio 3, and I expect Mark and f-f will aim to keep it that way. I don't expect much duplication of FoR3 and R3boards (R3ok) and the broad subject matter will continue here.

Perhaps this topic should be removed.   This board is only open today as a trial and should not be going public as yet.....I may have blundered by putting it on here so I'd be grateful if the mods could take it off.  I can't find the "remove topic" button.

I'll hold fire on removing this topic as a few have successfully registered (incl. me) and getting welcome e-mails.

I've sent a mail to Sarah asking to clarify.

It's ok John.  No need to bother.  Sarah has been very kind about it and it appears I am forgiven for being "a bit previous" with my enthusiasm.  Grin

She may even come on here to clarify.

See....my husband was absolutely right about me!  I am far too impetuous!!!!  Embarrassed

(He did say that was my only fault though... Wink

Hello :-)

I thought I'd better register and clarify a few points. First, that I've been in touch with Michael since r3ok was launched and am delighted to see that it's proving a great succes.

The FoR3 forum is probably an idea whose time had come. I never wanted to impinge on what R3 was doing (especially after pointed comments from a certain quarter that we were 'luring people away' from the R3 site. It was put to me that it was like throwing a party and having someone come in and say they were giving a rival party elsewhere, to which everyone was welcome. So we kept out of it. But circumstances have changed. Unfortunately.

I've thought about how we could make the FoR3 board complementary to both  R3 and r3ok. I'd like the forum to make a real contribution to debates about music, culture and the arts, to promote discussions and to invite dissent. That will be good for FoR3. So everyone will be welcome, whatever their views. I think that might give it a different atmosphere from here in r3ok ;-)

We haven't yet quite finished tidying up the site, but I hope all those who care about Radio 3 and what it does will find time to look in before too long.

french frank,
What is the difference between these two boards? I think we can discuss radio programmes here, and we can talk about aspects of music and even life.
This board is a big help to me. May be we can have two boards.

>> May be we can have two boards.

t-p, maybe we can have as many boards as we can cope with! I think it's up to everyone to decide where they want to post, including the Radio 3 boards.  Friends of Radio 3 is a campaigning group and we're 'opening the books' to public scritiny. Not everyone agrees with us and they're free to come and challenge us and maybe show things in a different light which will be very useful.

I've deliberately kept the Radio 3 and 'waffle' sections small because r3ok caters for both. We'd like feedback on the recent programme changes but people are free to come and discuss what they like.

We may move in the direction of trying to pull in outside contributions for general enlightenment and discussion.

Even me, ff?  (NB: to help you with your reply, remember that the word "especially" has two l's)  Cheesy

I hope that you, in turn, will pop in here from time to time and join in where you feel you have something to say. That would seem only fair, I think.

Cheers frenchie - looking forward to investigating the new FoR3 boards later.

The r3OK boards are very genial and pleasant places, with little truck for irate postings.  I can imagine that if you are looking for dissent and grumps about R3, then the FoR3 boards will be very different.......!

Plenty of space for 2 boards.

Tommo

PS Come over here for a bit if you get fed up with irate listeners who have nowhere else to go where the bbe may listen.

Good luck, ff - I see nothing wrong with similar ultimate goals being sought by parallel differing methods  Smiley

We've already been disenfranchised from TOP - the last thing we need now is a fracture between two caucuses, because that really will indeed be the end of us.  We don't need any Balkanisation :-)
