The neighbour's alsatian is on its last pair of legs.
Front or back? And has it wheels for the other extremity?

Both, I would say. It walks very gingerly and has lots of rests. No wheels yet.

[ed] a wood pigeon just flew straight into my window. Blackbirds were giggling.

That's just the sort of thing I expect of blackbirds. No sympathy for an injured bird. It wouldn't surprise me if they act as lookouts for the seagulls too.

'course, crows always travel in threes so that two can scavenge while one warns of traffic...

I've just spent a rather cold and unpleasant afternoon watching (BBC2) The Red Shoes, which I considered the last word in romance when I was about 12. Now I'm apt to want to yell at Moira Shearer, "For heaven's sake, girl, stand up to that tyrannical bully Lermontov!" I still enjoyed the wallow, however.

I noticed it immortalises live Radio 3 opera broadcasts (dramatic moment when it's announced that Juiian Craster/Marius Goring will be unable to conduct his new opera) - I never used to notice that, because I took live Radio 3 brodcasts for granted. Ah well.

I've been watching it as well Mary.  Lovely film. I haven't seen it before but it's been on my list for a long time.  I'm not a film fan on the whole so I've missed out on a lot of classics.

I'm just getting ready for the first Saturday night out I've had for a very long time.  My grandson has gone to Manchester to watch a footie match and is then going for a "sleepover" so Milly is on the loose!!!  We're going out for dinner and a show.  Everyone keeps telling me how nice it is to have a break but to be honest I feel as though I'm missing a limb.  What a saddo!  I've obviously got far to used to having the little fellow trotting about round me 24/7.  He's coming back tomorrow lunchtime.

I'll tell you what we saw when I return.  Cheesy

Aussie accent is even better for that, Kitty. We say 'car' straight through the nose and without a hint of 'r'...

I'm not a film fan either, Millie, but this was one of the very few films I saw when I was a kid - this and Henry V, and Children's Film Foundation films - there was one called The Little Ballerina which had Margot Fonteyn, aged about 30, in a speaking cameo in it! I'm sure The Red Shoes coloured my view of life for a long time, and I've never really got over the idea that music, and/or the stage in any form, is the most romantic life ever - even though I know better now.

Have a nice night out. I remember that feeling of missing a limb. It soon goes off!

Milly is sitting here gradually thawing out after an evening at the Hot Ice Show. Jeez! It was freezing in there and we were sitting at the front in a continual fog of dry ice.  Fabulous skating though, tied in with a lot of laser lights and a violinist and pianist performing live on the ice - as well as skating themselves afterwards.  Super evening altogether - although I didn't like the liberties they took musically with the Sugar Plum Fairy!  Grin
