I've been watching it as well Mary. Lovely film. I haven't seen it before but it's been on my list for a long time. I'm not a film fan on the whole so I've missed out on a lot of classics.
I'm not a film fan either, Millie, but this was one of the very few films I saw when I was a kid - this and
Henry V, and Children's Film Foundation films - there was one called
The Little Ballerina which had Margot Fonteyn, aged about 30, in a speaking cameo in it! I'm sure
The Red Shoes coloured my view of life for a long time, and I've never
really got over the idea that music, and/or the stage in any form, is the most romantic life ever - even though I know better now.
Have a nice night out. I remember that feeling of missing a limb. It soon goes off!
