Is there any hope?
I don't think using moisturiser is vain. (Contemplating it certainly isn't.)

I have them for reading only. Fortunately I'm long-sighted so I don't need them at any other time. I can read reasonably well without them, but have trouble with very small print like the 'phone book. I carry those little specs in a flashy tube in my bag for anything such as menus I might have trouble with.

I've worn glasses most of the time since I was in my early thirties. (I had them first at about 17 but didn't need them often then.) My husband didn't give a damn. My mother had worn glasses since childhood, and was scornful of any "vanity" associated with them, so I suppose I learnt that confident attitude. In any case, as you get older you don't look any better without glasses - more of the lines show!

Changing the subject for a minute, I don't suppose anyone knows the calorific content of those gorgeous, huge American fresh cherries - so dark they're nearly black - on which I'm currently making an absolute pig of myself whilst listening to the Proms on 3? I treated myself to a huge punnet of them and I'm finding them distinctly "more-ish".

Sorry i can't help with the calorific content of cherries Millie! Speaking of glasses, i started waering them for close work at the age of 14 but now wear them most of the time. I used to be really fed up about this but now have got used to them and think they make me look more distinguished!

Oh dear. These are delicious. Very sweet and juicy and I've eaten more than half the punnet. Is there a Cherries Anonymous I can join urgently for assistance?

Thank you! 50 calories each serving of 73 grams......well that's several hundred I've consumed......still much better nutritionally than say, a deep-fried Mars bar!

Milly, just enjoy the cherries. Sod the calorie content! Life's too short to worry about the calories in a cherry!

Oh how right you are Mort! They are really heavenly. (And so they should be for the price - I nearly passed out when I saw how much they were, but then I don't smoke and I don't drink...... ). They're my second favourite fruit, the first being fresh apricots, although I will resort to dried if there's no other choice. I've also hogged some brazil nuts, some almonds, an avocado and one of those little Apetina snack things containing feta cheese, olives and garlic cloves. I think I'm eating for comfort again .
