Thank you for the music ...

Does anybody share my overall miffedness at not being able to listen to the regular schedule? I admit that routine adds a comforting regularity to life, but there are some programmes that I really look forward to all week. To find them muscled off the schedule is a little upsetting.

I have nothing against Tchaikovsky personally, but the temptation to type 'Tsiolkovsky' keeps surfacing!

No, I'm not a complete idiot. I'm only a halfwit. In fact I'm actually a catfish.

I find these Marathons wearisome, I don't think I listened to any of the BachFest or the other ones, in fact the only one I enjoyed was the Beethoven Experience.  I think a day of just one composer, spread throughout the year, would be better.

It's just another piece of 'mud against the wall' broadcasting, SFAIC: I've avoided them all, just thankful that I have a huge archive of programmes from the past year still to listen to; a couple of months' worth of CDM for starters....and of course it's a good reason to make inroads into the 'still to be heard cd' pile, too. In fact, far from being "innovative" broadcasting it's lazy broadcasting, so easy to do, no need to think up anything new and a complete waste of time, as who can listen 24/7?

I quite agree.

The Tchaikovsky operas, taken weekly, would be quite sufficient as a thread, particularly with good background programmes about the original dramas (maybe even broadcasts of them?) and the compositional process, maybe a programme of works from around the same period...

Can I be Controller please?

Roslynm, your first act as controller can be to axe some Tchaik and insert some Machaut. That'll shake things up a bit.  Wink

Dunno if anybody's interested but over on the "other boards" on the Tchaikovsky thread, they now have the video of the 1812 from the Imperial War Museum.  It didn't come over at all well on the radio as we all know, but it's much better to actually watch.

Charlie's wearing a suit and tie!!!!! I've never seen him do that before and very tasty he looks too!  Kiss
