Baroque and neo-Baroque aren't my number one thing but last night's concert at the Gateshead Sage was a joy.  A group of players gave us Bach's Brandenburg 3 and also on the menu was Stravinsky's Dumbarton Oaks.  But my highlight was Bach's Musical Offering, giving individual members of the orchestra a chance to shine.  Conductor/violinist Andrew Manze compered much of the programme and proved fluent and witty in the task.  It was his first visit to the orchestra--I do hope he'll be back.

Best of all--you can share in it, as it's on Performance on 3 on Mon 7 May, at 7:30pm, I think.  Don't miss!

PS I've just received the concert prospectus for 07/08.  Shall inspect and let you know my personal plums!
