The artiste formerly known as Gabrielle d’Estrées

I've been going for years - the only decent local classical music available, without hoofing it to London or Bristol - although fair does, the Anvil, Basingstoke has just announced an interesting programme for 2007-08.

Sadly there's only a few concerts each year in Marlborough. Enjoyed Freddy Kempf in the winter, but last night something special: Katherine Gowers (violin), Louisa Tuck (cello) and Charles Owen (piano) playing Debussy sonatas for violin and for cello, three nocturnes by Faure and the Ravel piano trio. All were excellently played, but if I could have a recording of their performance of the trio, I should want for no other. Absolutely electric, perfect intonation and ensemble, inspiring each other to a highly idiomatic rendition. A real treat. Three fine players who I'm sure we shall hear much more of.

Sounds wonderful, and I think the performers would be heartened to know the effort you put in to get to them.
Basingstoke would be a fair old schlepp wouldnt it? I've heard good things about Bradford-on Avon Wilts Music
Centre, is that accessible/ worthwhile? I guess youre almost in Bath thereafter geographically. I used to work in
newbury, where old R3 hand Chris de Souza had taken on a presenting gig with the Southern Sinfonia who by
all accounts werent bad (work travel prevented me hearing them in person)
