I popped into the FH foyer on my travels yesterday, found the place packed. A lot of people standing around with no obvious zest in being there, and LS plus very able  BME schoolkids playing beautifully
an exceptionally nondescript piece of minimalism. Theyve cleared the foyer area of clutter and the acoustic
is  spacier. Didnt make it tothe main hall, did any of you guys? Sure, apart fromthe J Anderson premiere the
formalopener looked bitty. In general the space seems to be making an attempt to be friendlier and more
connected-up. Any thoughts?

It was already my favourite London Hall and was always rather impressed by the acoustic !

Alison, I'd agree with that - and I found the acoustic better than others seem to have (except when it came to recordings when I prefer the RAH). That said, I'm told it was pretty sensitive to where you sat. But then that's probably true of any big hall (certainly the Usher Hall has its share of dead spots. Still, I'm looking forward to my visit the weekend after next.

The musicians who played/sang/conducted there seem to have found the acoustic a bit dead. It could have done with more "bloom", I always felt, so perhaps it wil have that now.

Yes, man, time-is-now:

Have you SEEN what they charge for seats, man???
AND, if any humble jazz enthusiast wants to check on Ornette Coleman the next night, that'll set 'em back like 45QUID!

WHO THE HELL CAN PAY THAT SORTA PRICES?

TOFFS, that's who.

I rest my case.
