Bridge               Phantasie (Trio No.1)
Shostakovitch    Trio, Op.67
Brahms              Trio in C Minor, Op. 101

Performed by the Perseus Trio

7.30pm The Recital Room, South Hill Park, Bracknell

The Bridge is a gem of a piece.  Shostak speaks for itself.  The Brahms is so neglected!  A great piece.

Rather than correct the first message and leave the wit of the first reply orphaned, I will instead write here that the Trio name is indeed 'Perseus', and I am a better violinist than a typist.

By the way, anyone looking up the programme on the intenet will see German Romanticism and suggetions of Brahms C Minor with Schoenberg Verklarte Nacht arranged for Trio.  Sorry to disappoint, but the programme is now Bridge, Shostakovitch and Brahms.

Cheers

I very much doubt it, t-p, the Perseus Trio is not, I think on the Radio 3 'list'. Come to balmy Bracknell. The South Park arts centre, is pleasant enough to visit. Buses from close to town centre stop about a minute's walk away. Don't think about travelling to Bracknell by Greenline bus for the evening though. They stop ridiculously early. Train or car is your only hope.

Oh goodness, I hope people don't get too high expectations of the Perseus Trio!  This is Bracknell, not the Wigmore.

I will of course try to record the concert and send it in when R3 does a Chamber Music version of Listen Up! Undecided Wink

Well, last big rehearsal for this was last night, and went well.  Just topping and tailing now.

Thought I would bring this TTT, as it is always nice to have an audience, and would love to see some of you there.....

Sorry Tommo, I was planning to go, but a family emergency has just been doubled, and I have to head north after dealing with the first tomorrow afternoon. It is just possible I will get back for Friday evening, but it looks a bit iffy.

Well thanks anyway Bryn, I hope the family emergency resolves quickly for you.

BobbyZ - many thanks.  I hope you'll enjoy it!  Come and say hello afterwards, if you want.

Final rehearsal tonight went OK, although I surprised the cellist with how fast I took the Shostakovitch second movement - nothing like spicing things up a bit at the last moment......

[By the way, if anyone remembers a thread called "unintentional backhanded compliments" from the old boards, I do still remember my promise to be take any comments about the sound my violin makes graciously.... ! Wink]

Cheers

Tommo

Thanks for the concert. I was a little worried when I bought my ticket earlier in the week and it was quite a low number. I was hoping that didn't indicate how many they had sold. In the event my worst fears weren't justified and I hope you were happy with the turnout and the reception you received.

I didn't know any of the pieces but had a pretty good idea what to expect from Brahms and Shosta. Will have to try and hear the Bridge again to get a full handle on it.

Will have to say hello another time, having lumbered myself with this forum name I felt a bit silly thinking of saying "hi, I'm BobbyZ" ( it's Dylan related by the way )

Thanks Tommo. The situation will, unfortunately, inevitably resolve itself before very long, but there has, at least, been some temporary aleviation of the immediate problem. I think I would rather have been at South Hill Park than driving back, listening to tonight's Radio 3 selection of recorded performances. Damn it, they can't even manage to broadcast a bunch of recordings as advertised, "due to a technical problem".
