Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that my latest podcast for the CBSO has been posted at http://www.cbso.co.uk/podcasts

Percussionist Colin Currie talks about the premiere of Simon Holt's percussion concerto, "A Table of Noises" which is being premiered at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on May 14th. In our competition, you can win a pair of tickets to the concert.

Stephen Johnson discusses Mahler's 5th Symphony, which dominates the CBSO's schedule for much of the next month.

And CBSO orchestra manager Ben Noakes reveals what it is like to have to deal with 90 professional musicians and their demands every day.

We also have a Podcast Extra, which is the full interview with Colin Currie. He talks about being the first percussionist to be in the concerto final of Young Musician of the Year and the nightmare of having to play the brand new concerto which was delivered late!

Everything is free, you don't even have to subscribe to listen to the podcasts.

I hope you enjoy them!

Best wishes,

Tommy Pearson

It's always good to hear from you, Tommy, and this particular podcast looks particularly interesting.

Many thanks,

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

I do hope you've all seen my little film with Valery Gergiev on Mahler at the LSO site...

http://lso.co.uk/mahler

I'm now busy making about 15 more of those, with many of the top performers/conductors appearing with the LSO next season.

I was at the rehearsals for MacMillan's St John Passion the other night (an 80th birthday present for Sir Colin Davis from his agent) and I think it's an extraordinary work. I recommend going to hear it at the Barbican on the 27th - should be a special night.

best wishes,
Tommy

Sadly, not all of us can drop everything and make a thousand mile round trip just like that, Tommy. (Hoping that rumours of a recording are true, though....)
