I am going to tell you a little about our next season. I just cannot keep it in.

I know that I am not right on all points, but I want to write some of what I think about the next season.

1.Concert one in Septemeber: Nose pianist: All Brahms concert. Brahms Quartet, Four Piano pieces op. 119 and Quintet op. 34 in F (Venetian bookends quatet).

I will not go because I am busy. Even if I was not I probably would give it a miss. I know all pieces on the program, I already heard Nose (he was here before). All Brahms concert will attract limited number of people.

2. The lunatick, the lover and the poet...

Will not go. I am busy, but would not go anyway. There is a lute player, but cellist is ours. I had enough of him.

3. Noriko Ogawa Debussy Preludes, Dai Fujikura returning (commissioned by Noriko Ogawa 2006), Liszt Sonata in B minor. I already heard her five or six times. She is a personal friend and this is why she is in. She is a good pianist,  but I don't want to listen to her anymore. I know how she playes. I already have my opinion about her, turned pages for her many times. Better stay home and listen to Radio 3.

4. Viola magic
Maxim Ryasanov viola (UK, Katya Apekisheva Piano (Israel).

Will give it a miss. I know the pieces very well, played many times with good viola player. Not interest, will not find time.

5. Could consider RTE Naional Symphony with Vladimir Altschuler conductor (Russia).

I will not go probably, but it will be popular.

There is going to be Russian mini festival, but so boring, even I will give it a miss.

I know that I am not right, but I express other people's opinion too. I am not sending my students there now, stopped doing it.
It is really bad.
What should I do? I don't feel good about this situation.

Thanks Martle, that's quite a nice work actually.  But one question - why does she need the music?

She doesn't, Tommo. It's there as a security blanket.  Cheesy

She has played and (almost) recorded the nearly 100 etudes Rakowski has (so far) written. Fantastic pianist.

Thank you, martle.
Now I know what my teacher in college meant when he said that he doesn't care how I do what he wants. He used to say that as far as he was concerned I could do it with my nose.

Who could of think that it will take me so many years to understand.

But really look at the Russian festival: Rachmaninoff - Two movements for String Quartet. Why is it two movements? Conor Biggs (baritone) already been here. He has good Russian and is educated and nice individual. But do I what to hear him sing Rachmannoff? No, I don't. Schubert may be. It is enought that I almost cried on his concert once. He is a good lecturer. Sorry to sound like that, but I can not help it.

Rachmaninoff cello sonata is important piece. Why is there Romance and Oriental Dance? Taneev string quartet No. 1. I could go for that, but who is playing. Then don't know how to play that. I once heard them play Dumka by Dvorjak. The middle pensive movement was played like a dance. This understanding of the word Dumka crept in most West ensembles.
Dumka is not a dance.

I am  so dissapointed. It is very bad here. People (musicians and ordinary people) boycott or ignore performances. They give tickets for free. Even that is not easy.
But I don't care really. I can always listen to Radio 3 for my own pleasure. I am worried about classical music.
Honestly, there is not one concert that I want to go to.
Last season I did not go even once. I usually bring t-p with me and a couple of students. They lost 5 - 10 people right away.
The later part of the season looks better, but I don't know if I will be still around to go to concerts. It is a long way to April.
On the other hand the worse they do, the better it is.

Rachmaninoff - Two movements for String Quartet. Why is it two movements?

That might just be because the last 2 movements of SQ no.1 were lost, and because SQ2 only has 2 (I believe)

This particular quartet is not suited for Rachmaninoff.

The middle (second violin and viola) are too weak. They have tiny sound as a quartet.
They are good if they are playing with piano or clarinet. Then they sound better.

I am not going to llisten to them playing Rachmaninoff. I don't have time for that.
As far as I am concerned there could be one and a half movement lost, I don't care.

From your description of the performers, it sounds like half of the movements they are going to perform will be lost too!  Sad  Rachmaninov SQ No.1, with 2 and 2 x 0.5 movements missing!!!

You should see them too, Tommo.

They were jumping from their seats the last time I heard them. I wanted to say:
Please, someone tie them to their chairs.

They are also flirting with each other while playing for show.
It is awful.  Cry Cry Cry

I know I should not be too critical. Sorry.
