Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know - especially those of you in the Midlands - that the CBSO plays a free outdoor concert tonight in Centenary Square, Birmingham (right outside Symphony Hall) as part of the Birmingham ArtsFest. It starts at 8pm, Saturday 13th.
It's a chance to hear some of the (admittedly more popular) music that the CBSO will be performing in the 2008/9 season, including music by Dukas, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Walton, Berlioz, Rachmaninov, Wagner and John Williams. There'll also be a few opera arias, with soloists from Birmingham Opera Co: Verdi (La donna e mobile); Puccini (Che gelida manina); Bizet (Seguidilla from Carmen) and Saint-Saens (Mon Coeur s'oeurve a ta voix from Samson and Delilah).
Should be a fun night. Michael Seal is conducting, I am presenting. You're all welcome!
By the way, I've been getting mixed responses to my latest blog in which I commit the cardinal sin of disliking a Berlin Philharmonic/Rattle performance. I'd be interested to know what you think:
