An utterly shameless plug, in the hope that there be interest in a lunchtime recital that I'm giving four weeks today. It's part of the Lunchtime conservatoire concert series at Chappell of Bond Street; there are six recitals this term, one every two weeks, pianists from the four London conservatoires.

Quote
The performances are free of charge and will take place in the Recital Room of Yamaha Artist Services Europe (London), situated within the historic Piano Hall at Chappell’s West End store.  All recitals will commence at 1pm. Seating is limited so please call in advance to reserve your place by calling 020 7432 4439 or email kumi_liley@gmx.yamaha.com

Wednesday October 22nd

Ireland: London Pieces
Brahms: Op. 117
Ferguson: Piano Sonata

Woo! Go Eru!

I don't know whether or not I'll be able to make it, but the date's in my diary, and I'll try to be there. I suspect such things are beneath you, but let me know if you want me to act as page-turner (I've got letters after my name for such activities), and if so, I shall definitely be there - everything else can wait!

I can't help but notice your repertoire seems very Ireland-heavy. Have you played the Fantasy-Sonata for clarinet and piano? I'm sure I can be persuaded to dust it off it you want to try it Smiley

Bugler, bugler, bugler!

Normally I'd be around for a Central London lunchtime recital but, not ten minutes before reading this, I agreed to act as a facilitator for an all-day seminar that day, from which I will have no opportunity to slope off at lunchtime.  Sad

All the best anyway; I look forward to hearing accounts from those who can make it.

A bewildered old man adrift in an ever-changing world writes:

Is Chappell's of Bond Street in Bond Street or in Wardour Street these days?

Is Chappells of Bond Street in Bond Street or in Wardour Street these days?

They moved to Wardour Street two years ago, GG.  The premises are a lot nicer too.  John McLean is still running the Sheet Music section in his inimitable and charming way Smiley

Ah, thank you. That'll stop me wandering around Soho in a distraught manner on a grey October afternoon.

Oddly enough the charming young lady hadn't heard of Eruanto either. She's very kindly going to alter all the publicity material accordingly.

Thanks to all the well-wishers Smiley Kiss Smiley

let me know if you want me to act as page-turner

That's really very generous of you, but I fear it be all from memory. Will pm you.

I never could find it on Bond Street anyway; getting lost almost turned into a tradition.

I have got my email back to tell me that my place is booked, but if I am not there by 1257 it will be given to those who are waiting.  And if I want to get a good seat, I should really be there by 1245.  Thank you.

Which end of Wardour Street?  Oxford Street or Old Compton Street (named after the Bishop of London at the time of the Great Fire, as I am sure everyone involved there knows) ?
