Excellent Music Matters this morning (Saturday 1 December) with good features on Bostridge the English tenor and Ivor Gurney, whose work ought to be explored further on R3.

Have we 'done' Bostridge here? I'm thinking about how English he sounds even when singing German - something which he says he gets no comments about except on these shores.

And is Music Matters getting better? Or is it just my imagination?

I listened to today's programme because of the bit about Gurney, who's a favourite of mine. There were also some Gurney songs a couple of hours later in the repeat of the Andrew Kennedy recital.

Doesn't music matter all the time? Wink

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley
