Well, I have to say that since turning on Radio 3 at 1pm this afternoon, I have been experiencing something akin to personal Radio 3 nirvana.

It started with the traditionally high standard Early Music Show, this week looking at music for Holy Saturday with typically uplifting pieces from Palestrina and from two fine Portuguese composers, Gesulado and Morales. Next it was on to a marvellously vivacious Lunchtime jazz concert led by Gwilyn Simcock. Without a pause for breath, we were whisked off to Cuba for World Routes at 3pm and some familiar tunes made popular by the Buena Vista Social Club (esp. Chan Chan) rang out through my house. The jazz section of the afternoon was short today but wow the quality was high with some great tunes from Coltrane et al. And still playing now 4 hours after it began and a further hour still to go, the highlight of the day surely with Opera on 3 featuring Wagner's Tristan und Isolde 'Live from the Met' with Deborah Voigt and Robert Dean Smith on quite sublime form. And if all that isn't enough, we get good old Geoffrey Smith and his Jazz Record Requests that was denied us earlier in the afternoon.

Truly this day has been radio at its very best for me.

Why don't you tell us about your 'Perfect Radio 3 Day'

I happened to listen to Early Music Show and went on to listen to Lunchtime jazz concert with Gwillyn Simcok.
I tuned off opera program.
I also had a good day with radio. I am glad you enjoyed it too.
