"Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin."

Listen with Mother (for all you youngsters who don't recognise those words).

Berceuse from Faure's Dolly Suite.

http://www.whirligig-tv.co.uk/radio/lwm.htm (Be warned  - the Midi version is truly awful!)

Gosh, MJ! That brings back memories. And here's a decent performance of what is a delightful and very subtle piece:

Lovely martle! Kiss

(I posted the link for those young posters who won't have heard of Listen with Mother, not for the music, hence the warning!)

What was that music quiz with Robin Ray, Joyce Grenfell etc ? Face The Music ? Anyway, the theme to that was Walton's Facade I believe.

Also, a regiment of banned smileys would be posted in acknowledgment of martle's Chopin weekend reaction !

Think it might have been Panorama or something similar but know they used the fanfare type opening of the last movement of Rachmaninov's 1st symphony = loveit although not so keen on the programme itself !!

What was that Radio 4 travel programme from years back? I liked the signature tune but now I can't remember how it went! Can't recall who presented it either... Roll Eyes

Down Your Way which I mentioned, earlier, MJ,  was originally presented by Richard Dimbleby; subsequently Franklin Engelman.     I've been whistling the damned Horseguards Whitehall March all evening since then!   A great tune.
