Is there something wrong with my computer or has the layout of the BBC Radio 3 website been changed?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/

The images on the website are not visable on my pc. Huh

Not visible on my PC either pim, although they were yesterday.  The link to the message boards is not immediately visible, it is at the bottom of the page in the black area.

Hmm. That wasn't what I saw when I logged in earlier. They now appear to have travelled back in time to 2005! I blame the Tardis Grin I think that Southendian said that they would still be tweaking things for a couple of days while the new lay-out was 'bedded in', so I imagine there will be puzzled faces across the country peering at computer screens.

I can see the images.

In fact, in my usual browser window, I can see nothing BUT images. I have to expand to full screen before I see any content  Undecided

When I used to work on my company's web site, we developed new designs on a completely separate, non-public server and went through exhaustive testing on that server before releasing it to the public. It was alread 'bedded in' before any customer even saw it. Then we would come in at some unearthly hour of the morning to make the actual switch-over between the old and new sites, in an attempt to minimise disruption to our customers.

I guess the BBC doesn't care so much about its customers  Roll Eyes

At least you can still access the playlist archives back to 2004, the last time they buglered about with the website design (which must have been in 2004), all the old playlists disappeared. I try to keep copies on my PC of playlist pages for all progs I've recorded but inevitably I get behind in capturing them. Last time I had to write to Hear & Now and someone from the production team sent me Word versions of all the playlists I was missing.

Wow, what a spectacularly inefficient use of screen space!

I'm not impressed with the way the listing are now presented on 'through the night' There are no timings, no performer details Sad

There are still, spatny, but in a totally different location. Click on the date you require, and the old-style list with timings and performers will appear.

It looks to me as though it has been redesigned for the visually-impaired. I suspect that somebody has worked out (more or less erroneously) that "the largest audience for Radio Three programmes are elderly, i.e.
  • near-sighted
  • probably hard of hearing
  • probably wrapped up in shawls near an open fire listening to the wireless
But God-bless-'em, they've had the grandson set up the computer to show the Radio Three homepage and help them learn what to do with a mouse...
