Did you hear last Tuesday's Breakfast programme? There was a wonderful piece by Suk featured in it called Fairy Tale. You can listen to it here:

I'm a sucker for the opening of the William Tell overture. I'm not saying it's the greatest beginning ever but I mention it because few others will. As for endings, that of Prokofiev's 7th symphony (the original one) always gets to me.
