A perfectly straightforward post by a jazz boared regular on the r2 message boards, pointing out that with the departure/retirement in stages of Humph the bbc r2 & r3 was now in serious risk of missing out on playing some 80 to a 100 years worth of jazz because of the remit of existing programmes, has been closed. 'It has nothing to do with music.'

It seems that the jazz bored may be the last relatively open forum that the bbc tolerates. For how long?

It is becoming totally scandalous; they are acting like besieged nitwits. They are not paid to exercise such poor judgement and may be failing their public duties ubder their charter.

Calum

I can't face the R2 boards ( though did pop over to see what KK had to say on there ) but R2 seems to have had a radical evening overhaul in much the same way as R3 and with the same intention i.e. "it is 20.00 and I know when I tune in I know exactly what it will be".

But going hand in hand with schedule changes does seem to be a bunker mentality. Have you ever seen a weekend snippet on BBC News 24 where viewers are ostensibly given the chance to question BBC news coverage ? And where invariably their views are treated patronisingly and dismissed ?

Hi BobbyZ

Yep

It is not just the bbc; they are all at it. Call centre speak, spin, denial, inversion. If i had the wit and discipline of Orwell there is a book in the corporatist response to joe public, the increasing inequality and managerial ideologies and greed of the new brittania.

was it Room 17? In my version Hazel Blears is explaining to me why i am better off waiting four weeks to see my gp about my acute chest pains; or how my daughter will benmefit from the injection of capital into my local community college by a fundamentalist evangelical, and how my grandchildren will be able to afford the pfi repayments. She is on a tv screen, 60" in HD, in a 3 minute tape loop. Give me the rats!
