Gulp, thanks Andy.  When I get a chance to get on the pc I will try.  But it might be easier just to start afresh.  Thanks anyway.

That's exactly what Mort said! It's not really as difficult as it looks! Cheesy

In Firefox 3, I've just been reading, there will be a facility to restore your bookmarks using a Bookmarks menu without going through all this rigmarole. It's out on Tuesday.

Once you find one that is correct you need to copy & rename it to your <profile name>.default folder to replace bookmarks.html -

Sorry to trouble you on your birthday, Andy,  but where do I find that?  I found a Favourites folder with all my bookmarks there, but they don't show up on the screen.

C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Application Data\
Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile name>.default\bookmarks.html

is your bookmarks file - it's only updated when you quit Firefox, ie Firefox keeps its own version while it's running.

Best is to rename this file to bookmarksblahblah.html, copy the backup you've found to the <profile name>.default folder, then rename that to bookmarks.html.

Right, I've got on the pc today and gone through all the motions Andy kindly suggested.

My bookmarks are not back in the pull down menu.

However, I opened the stored bookmarks, and saved them as a new bookmark, and now when I go into bookmarks, I can call up that page and click a link.

Thanks for the advice, any way.
