I'm sure one or two of you must use dongles for broadband internet access. I'm thinking of getting one and have done a bit of research but I'd welcome any comments from experienced users - or others! I've looked at Orange, which only seems to do 18 month contracts, also at 3 who do contracts and PAYG.

I'm attracted to PAYG, since I'm not sure that I want to commit myself when I might eventually find that I don't use it all that often.

I borrowed one of these from a friend I do a lot of work for when I had all my internet hassles recently - he has a Vodafone deal (I think it's probably a business contract though, come to think of it) which allows him 'fair usage' of up to 3.0GB per month. I found it very efficient and useful, although it was a bit slower than the wireless broadband I get through the router here at home.

You'll probably find it doesn't show all images on sites such as this forum unless you ask it to (presumably this is to save unnecessary volumes of data transfer).

I hope it goes without saying that coverage can be an issue here, and that signal strength needs to be really good for the system to work well. On the days when I was keeping in touch with somebody else's laptop from the hospital, we started off with an O2 dongle, but because the signal was so-so (though showing full-strength on mobiles) the connection was breaking regularly. Replacing it with a Voda one solved the problem: the connection stayed locked-on and stable. Other locations may have had a different result, however....
