Right. Got the new screen installed and it's doing what it should. But ... the colours aren't right - the blues are washed out, yellow is very citrus, text on the Homepage is ill-defined. My screensaver, one of Ron's seascapes, is a pale shadow of itself I imagine I need to make some adjustments somewhere. Is there a boffin in the house?

Dropping in and out, Mort.... You might need new drivers; is there a CD in the monitor box? (Though you doubtless need to eject a cat or two in order to ascertain this. )

Indeed there is Ron. Plus one disgruntled moggy now I'll bung it in and see what it says. The disc, not the cat! Edit. Hmm. It was just the Setting up instructions that came in the booklet (which were scant and amounted to one page. Oh, and Adobe Acrobat which is now nagging me. I hate Acrobat! It always seems to bugler things up

Are you XP Mort? If so go to the bottom of your screen and double click on the red icon that seems to have letters on it like AT ( or something) It gives you a help screen. Type in monitor and see if there is some info there that may help? If it's Vista... let us know... someone else may be able to help A

Mort, go to Start-Control Panel-Appearance. I have the same size monitor as you and it is set at 1624x768 pixels and Medium 16 bit. There is also a troubleshoot link. I've never had a problem with Adobe Acrobat, what exactly is happening?

Mort
I'm posting from a position of considerable ignorance:
are you using the right connector? - I remember my flat screen had more than one option when I set it up
perhaps you can update your drivers online, there's an option somewhere in Windows but I'm on Ubuntu now so can't check
you can adjust the colour, contrast etc on the monitor itself, there should be some buttons which control this on the front somewhere

Andy, that's what I had assumed. There are buttons but they don't seem to relate to 'Brightness' etc. I have the Acer 'e' symbol, followed by 'Auto' and 'Menu on one button, then < and > Funny thing, I noticed yesterday that the 'sponsered' links have now disappeared, although they were still showing on the other screen even after I installed Adblock the other week Can't say I miss them much Ants, nothing has happened with Adobe. It's just that whenever I've had dealings with Adobe in the past e.g. opening a document, it's a kerfuffle to get out of the damn thing and often I've got stuck. Seem to remember Kitty posting recently about Adobe probs as well.

Mort, you'll have to go into the menu, then you'll get the options to adjust things with the < and >
Or even try Auto?

A, I haven't had much joy with any thoughts so far Yes, I'm XP but there doesn't seem to be a red icon at the bottom of the page. I've tried the buttons on the front of the monitor as well but, alas, no success. So I'm still rather wishy-washy in the colour department

Ok, Mort,
Have you been to Control Panel and double-clicked on Display? Select Settings. What's your Screen Resolution set at, and your Color quality(sic)? That might be a start. Which picture of mine is it, btw?

Right, Ron, I've checked out the Settings and I've got Screen Resolution at 1366 x 768 and Colour at Highest (32 bit).
The Dough pic is a seascape, or maybe that should be skyscape. Beautiful deep, strong blues, sunlight streaming onto the sea. Silhouette of a bench on the right hand side.

Thought it might be that one Mort: it's actually more blue-grey than deep blue, so it might be worth using another picture as your reference.
(And btw, it's a winch for pulling fishing boats onto the shore, rather than a bench...)

Mort, see my post #4, what happens if you change your settings to the ones I have? (We have the same size monitor)
