I've just had a problem with Firefox, it lost all my settings, such as cookies, saved passwords etc and also some of my add-ons (but not all). I suspect it happened not long ago when I was trying to post on r3ok but I found myself suddenly logged out and had to re-enter my name and password. Fortunately I took back-ups yesterday, so I was quickly able to restore my Firefox profile to the state it was in then. Also, it took very little time to re-install the missing add-ons - which were saying that they weren't compatible with version 3.0.3, but they are. 10-15 mins work fortunately.

Anyone else had this happen? Be wary if you use Firefox.

Nothing like that has happened to me.
So far.
And I've been using Firefox for a while.
Eek.

I'm also on Firefox 3.0.3 and I've had no problems like that. It seems to take longer for the saved password and user name to appear when I first login, but that has been happening for a few weeks now; certainly since before I updated to Firefox 3.

In general I think Firefox is excellent. Versions 3.0.2 and 3.0.3 appeared very close together, so perhaps there are a few little details which needed tweaking. Let's hope that 3.0.4 soon appears and prevents any more occurrences of Andy's problem!

Aha, found that there is a problem with saved passwords:

Mozilla Firefox 3.0.3 Fixes Password Manager Regression

The Mozilla Corporation has released Mozilla Firefox 3.0.3. This upgrade has been rushed out to fix a regression introduced in Firefox 3.0.2, which caused issues with retrieving saved passwords and saving new passwords (bug 454708).

Firefox 3.0.3 is being distributed to existing Firefox users via the browser's software update feature. The release can also be downloaded from the Firefox product page. Further details are available in the Firefox 3.0.3 Release Notes.

see http://www.mozillazine.org/

Also there still seems to be a problem and a new version 3.0.4 is supposed to be coming, see http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=25832

Interesting to note that the Mozillazine site has been spammed!

I'm still pretty unhappy with FF3.  Sad It seems much less stable than previous versions, esp on the Win XP machine I use for work: crashes are a more-than-daily occurence. Someone must be sick of receiving my automated error reports by now! Less fatal, but more annoying, is the regular habit of ... well, I'm not sure what to call it: pages seem to 'hang' somehow: everything will be there, but arrow keys and page up/down no longer work for scrolling and I have to resort to dragging the scroll bar with my mouse (the scroll arrows don't work either). Clicking on tabs to move from one tab to another also doesn't work - I can only get around using Ctrl-TAB. Very peculiar. Anyone else get this?

I used to get occasional problems with pages not loading properly on FF2, but FF3 is working wonderfully for me and my Mac!

I'm running FF 3 on XP and the only problem I seem to have is the one I've already posted about, haven't noticed that crashes are more frequent. I'm still on FF 2.whatever on Ubuntu.

I have been having problems with a Vista box. Today I booted the box and started Firefox, FF installed some nommy updates and rebooted the box again. Then I tried to start FF. "Oh no you DON'T" says Vista. "The program that the link refers to was moved or deleted" [snigger snigger]
So I went to the Programs folder, located the FF backup copy, copied it to a live executable copy and tried again.
More nommy updates, another reboot, tried to start FF, and this time "Oh no you DON'T" says Vista. "You don't have the necessary permission to access this file".
So most of the rest of the business end of my day was spent downloading FF 3.whatever and re-reinstalling.
