I wanted to listen live to R3 this morning but it appears that overnight my speakers have stopped working  Huh

All I am getting is a hum with no music.  I've tried a You Tube link and again a loud hum and very faint music in the background.

Two questions then.  How can I find out if it is my speakers rather than the sound card and if it is the speakers what brand do people recommend.  The ones I have are Cambridge.

If you want to find out if it's the speakers, replace them with headphones.
If the headphones are fine you have your answer.

Many thanks hh - now why didn't I think of that <doh! and another blonde moment emoticom>  Headphones work fine!!  Well thank goodness it's the speakers (easily sorted) and nothing to do with the sound card.  Odd that they suddenly stopped working though.

Odd that they suddenly stopped working though.

Speakers usually fizzle and warp their way to Valhalla, rather than conking out mysteriously - could be a loose wire somewhere in the chain?

If you fancy replacing them, my recommendation for Harmon Creatures still stands Smiley

Impressive. Obi-Wan has taught you well.

(I probably said that last time too, didn't I?)
