Ok, I know it isn't jazz but I didn't know where else to post on this board. World music ?

Just wanted to acknowledge Bo Diddley who it seems is on the way out, at least as far as ever playing again is concerned. Hearing Pretty Thing at the age of 12 opened up the possibility of a totally mysterious and alien world. Still think it is a totally unique sound with the reverb on the guitar and harmonica.

listening to Deep Feeling on the Chuck Berry page i'm struck by a more than passing resemblance to Albatross by Fleetwood Mac, any one else think so? Wonder at the chronology.

First time I've ever heard Chuck play slide. There is some resemblance to Albatross, more so in the rhythm section part, but probably not close enough to be actionable. Knowing Chuck's reputation I don't think he would have shyed away from litigation if he thought he had a case !

The bo diddley rhythm is the same as the clave rhythm in the samba.

Well, he lasted another year or so but the news has just come through of Bo's death. RIP.

Just dug out Pretty Thing to play again, there really is no other record quite like it.
