Norman Lebrecht is the one who petered out long ago, or normaned out, or rogered, or jacked, or something (No tomming round here; this is a jazz board) Wink

As for gerunds, that Latin import, some people still say no  to the EU, & Roman occupation of our territories. Give me the ablative absolute any day; at least it has more fur, or is that mould?

This looks like the start of a revival meeting. As Chris Jagger said on the Alexis Korner tribute, he felt him around guiding the making of the thing. I like the thoughtful retrospective description (by his biographer I think)of Alexis as a jazz musician, in the broadest sense.Humph is gladly very much alive, but all the fresher for slowing down a bit. There was a chivalrous moment (see LA R2) when he trumped 'piffle' comparing Goodman and P-W Herman with a solo by the young talented Karen Sharpe.
