I would think most listeners to Jezz on 3, Radio 3's "Flagship" (sic) programme for jazz, groaned when they heard, just after the excellent Tolliver Big Band broadcast, that the next programme was going to be "Adventures in Sound".  Usually I run away from this sort of thing and sure enough, last Friday, after Jazz Library I reached immediately for the off button on my radio.

I don't know what it was like because I couldn't bear the thought of listening to it.  Did anyone bother?  Was it worth it?  Remember that's 90 minutes of your life you won't be getting back.

Look I realise that this is a deeply tedious subject and nobody is remotely interested, but did NOBODY listen to this at all?

Looks like the Jezz on 3 Posse really struck paydirt on this session, then.

Hi tenor freak, and welcome,

I expect you are quickly realising that, despite the name on this board (The Radio 3 Boards) the BBC radio station is now the subject of maybe less than 10% of the postings, some members confess to not being R3 listeners, and the % of members who listen to Jazz on 3 might be about 1%, probably about 3.

Over at 'the other place' the official Radio messageboards, several forums were deleted about 9 months ago (and this place was born), but the jazz forum remained, hence its postings exceed 40k, while a few months later some classical forums were re-instated and are now very active and in the main R3-specific.

Several members here are quite openly hostile to jazz (not me, I'm a 1920's to bebop listener) Of course, these days, any listener to Rob Cowan and Sean Rafferty will getting more jazz exposure  Roll Eyes - that deserves another thread here though contributions here might be insignificant  Undecided

Didn't hear Adventures In Sound I'm afraid, can't get my head around Jazz on 3 most weeks after Jazz Library cos the contrast is normally a bit depressing. Tonight they are having a review of the "best" cd's of the year, so might try to listen and see if I've missed out on anything significant while in Acoustic Ladyland avoidance mode.
