OK then, which members enjoy, and which members switch off, the excursions into jazz found on Rob Cowan's and Sean Rafferty's Radio 3 programmes?

I've done both (sometimes enjoyed, sometimes switched off) but my general feeling is jazz belongs in specific R3 programmes.

I follow a third option, The Today programme. Wink

[Just to clarify, that does no mean I switch over when the jazz starts, but that I miss out on such jazz elements of Breakfast because I am already listening to Today. It's a long time since I tuned in to Breakfast. Even Rob Cowan fails to tempt me away from R4 in the morning. Same goes for PM etc. in the early evening.]

Rafferty and Jazz is like , well, The Count Basie Orchestra on Triangle, to quote Vivian Stanshall and the  Bonzos. The time of day and the piano in the studio is an ace idea, if only they could find a presenter with the appreciative cojones.

I'm the same as Bryn - R4 in the morning. I don't like being woken up by music, and certainly not by music that's not of my own choosing!

I don't like the jazz on Breakfast or on In Tune. Sorry. I think it just doesn't sit well amongst the classical content. It doesn't work. I suppose there are some people who like that kind of eclectic programming, but as I say, I don't think it works.

(I don't like the Today programme either.)

i dislike it because there is either an impish or novelty presentation; does nowt for the jazz. apart from Jazz Library which is excellent, and the pld warhorse JRR, r3 is appalling at jazz these days
