Not knowing a great deal about jazz, I found the Best CDs of 2007 programme on 7/12 to be very enjoyable. I've been listening to it today and one track which stood out for me - I've listened to it 3 or 4 times today already - was:

Artist David Torn (David Torn - guitars, live sampling, Tim Berne - alto saxophone, Craig Taborn - Fender Rhodes, Hammond B3, Mellotron, Tom Rainey - drums)
Track AK
Composer David Torn, Tim Berne, Craig Taborn, Tom Rainey
Album Prezens
Label ECM
Cat No. ECM 1877 170 9875

They mentioned Led Bib when talking afterwards about the track and I really enjoyed them when they were on Jazz on 3 at the end of September, so perhaps this is the sort of jazz I like. But is it jazz I hear someone ask! Wink

jAZZ oN £3: THE TRIUMPH OF MEDIOCRITY

Perhaps it is KK but I'm looking forward to tonight's programme featuring David Torn Live at the Vortex. I nominated AK off David Torn's Prezens album as my musical discovery of 2007 (http://r3ok.myforum365.com/index.php?topic=2353.msg80656#msg80656) so I hope tonight's programme lives up to the promise of that track.

Yeah maybe so KK, but after saying that about 1000 times I think its time to move onto something more interesting on the internet, instead of this obssessive compulsive behaviour that has wrecked the R3 bored alongside a few other dysfunctional mono-themes. Your contribution is well known, by me at least, and well appreciated by me at least.

But time to move on old chap - and I will engage no further than that, since I won't accept the role of some kind of unwanted counsellor.

I hope Ian Thurmwood turns up here, after a good contribution to the R3 bored and who's now had enough (haven't we all) with its tiresome bullshit nonsense.

It's like a case of Jekyl & Hyde on here. Careful Mr Hyde

Your point, exactly, W? Because it beats me what you're insinuating. Do you even know of Ian, his posts, and what's recently transpired at the R3 bored?

My point was that you have returned to sounding disrespectful and obnoxious as you were on your early visits here.

I gave up any regular visitations to the Jazz MB a long time ago, so I'm not aware of Ian's issues, there but I did recently see Trevor someone causing havoc.

OK so now here's my point, ****.

You swagger around like some kind of unelected moderator with an ego problem, who started a clash with me before and have now done it again. I told you you were out of order before and why, and those posts still exist.

I shall now refer to YOU as the Goat - butting in stupidly. You had and still don't have any idea on what I was commenting, and yet swagger around on this and other matters like you are omniscient. Clear? Good.

I didn't say I had any idea what you were talking about, but I'm saying I don't like the disrespectful way that you said it.

I don't care, Goat.
There's plenty of things for which I don't express respect: they don't deserve it. You're not a Mod, and shouldn't swagger like you do and then disguise it with affectations of superior manners and morals.

The exchanges between greenfox and JW don`t seem to be contributing to this thread in a hrlpful way.  Sorry to be so blunt but, you are both being rude to eachother. Let it stop now. Let's not transport the ill tempered posting that there has been at the TOP Jazz Board here.

Truce, please!

I'm not initiating it. If it stops, so do I. As US folk say: period.
But I trust my position has been established, should it occur.

What I said about the R3 bored is not only well understood by KK who is one of its principle inhabitants, but also by many others with similar views to mine. And what I said was both balanced and nuanced, and I stand by it.

Well, I usually either fall asleep listening to J on 3, in semi sleep mode manage to press the Off switch on my little bedside acoustics, or more usually just don't bother with Jez. I find it ridiculous, how the random cacophonies he proselytises get taken with serious interest. But hey, if folk like it that's up to them; there are worse ways to spend your leisure.

Re. J on 3 generally, I've been encouraged by the Line Up programme where Kevin (I think) seems to have replaced Claire lets-have-a-chat Martin. Some rather good stuff recently.
