Wealthy aristocrat (boo! boo!) of the Rothschild dynasty, she helped some famous jazzers, Monk and others, who subsequently dedicated tunes to her. They used to hang out at her house, party, sleep, eat, live; if I recall correctly Bird died there. Took lots of photos, not well known.

Didn't she take the cop when Monk was arrested for marijuana possession too, or something like that?

Yes I think there was something like that, and I read that with her wealth and influence she got a lawyer to get her off which there's no way Monk/whatever could have pulled.

I don't have time to read it now, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in the famous Time article about Monk, which everyone who can read should read anyway cos it's one of the best things ever written by anyone about anything.

Innit?
