Hello everyone, I've not been on these boards for a while; however, some of you may be interested to know that I've just completed the first issue of a new magazine ('eartrip') focussing on jazz, improvisation and experimental music. It's available for download here: http://eartripmagazine.blogspot.com/admin edit: fixed image link

Amazing! I just downloaded it but I haven't had a look yet. 200 pages! I knew this was on its way but I had no idea it was going to be so extensive. Well done, I'm looking forward to having a good read there - as you say in the introduction it's doing something like what the Wire used to do before (as I'd put it) it lost its focus. Some familiar names among the writers too...

Looks great and refreshingly deep and unpretentious-I'll look forward to immersing myself in it.

This is probably very ignorant, but what do I do on the Download page to get the file?

Ian,
Try the badonga link, where there is a Download this file link, but I think we're oversubscribed today already

Badonga wouldn't load for me. zShare downloaded an incomplete portion of the magazine (38 kbs I think). Megaupload was messing around with adverts and fancy stuff for so long that in the end I had to use another browser (Safari) to cope with it. So I got it in the end! 200 pages! Ironic that the first thing I want to do with online journals is print them out. I just don't seem to have the technique to read large swathes of text from a screen - my eyes seem to slide off the words.

Didn't realise it hadn't properly loaded onto zShare. Sharebee usually puts things on rapidshare automatically, but apparantely not this time! If more people have problems I might try creating an additional rapidshare link - if anyone wants that, let me know

Will this be an online-only mag or will you be publishing a hard copy version too??? I find reading 200 sheets of A4 quite difficult and reading them online even more difficult. But good luck with it anyway and thanks. the original plan was to do it as hard copy, but I ended up choosing online as hardcopy didn't seem feasible. However, I take your point (which others have also made) about reading 200 pages off a computer screen. Something may be done in the hard copy direction, but I can't promise anything.

Well it's very good what I've seen of it so far, just need to find a heavy duty enough laser printer to print it all out. Hard copy would be brilliant and there isn't much competition as far as I can see, on this level anyway.

Hard copies are available - someone's very kindly set up a project on the 'lulu' website which allows people to order a personal copy. £8 (incl. P & P) for 200 pages, A5, black and white. You can get it here http://www.lulu.com/content/2304158(The money doesn't go to me, but to the lulu website, in case you're wondering)
