Friggin genius. Serious itchy credit card time after listening to Jazz Library. I'm familiar with the famous compositions but what was particularly interesting were some more obscure numbers ( Chordially from the London sessions, a ridiculous solo piano opening to Lulu's Back In Town etc ).

Just about my most regretted "disappeared" vinyl album ( along with Screamin' The Blues by Oliver Nelson with Eric Dolphy ) is one by Monk. Did it have Coltrane on it ? Or Coleman Hawkins ? Or both ? Have never been able to track it down on cd, I think it had Well You Needn't, Crepescule With Nellie, Epistrophy and Ruby My Dear among six extended tracks and the cover had a photo of Monk in a little cart of some kind.

This Is My Story, This Is My Song; a perfect example of "less is more".

BobbyZ, a couple of years ago I found Quadromania (a 4 CD set) in my local bookshop. It contains recordings made between 1947-54, many of which I didn't know, including 4 of the tracks with Coltrane + Hawkins ("recording dates unknown") - Off minor, Epistophy, Well you Needn't + Ruby my dear. The 4 CDs cost . . er . . £6.99.

I bought a few of the classical Quadromania sets a few years ago.  Last time I was in MDC at the South Bank they had lots of them from several categories, including jazz.  It might be worth giving them a ring to see if they still stock these very cheap box-sets.
