"Peter the host" will no longer be overseeing the jazz bored at TOP. I know Anty at least will be interested in the news.
Seriously, he managed to hold that place together as the idiosyncratic island it is on the official boards and without him I can see the dead hand of conformity being imposed rapidly.
There seems to be a "shock / horror" multi -handling split personality controversy too ! But one which seems almost certainly the result of Beeb moderator incompetance.

Peter not only comes over as a very tolerant, humorous and likeable person but he is immensely knowledgeable about jazz of course. I am forever grateful for the two large goodie bags of jazz cds he sent me (I think they totalled 18 cds in all) The Today programme MB will be closing at the end of June. I wonder if a further shake up of other BBC MBs is being planned?

Calum....I've always felt that their were multiple IDs on the MB....At the beginning I did think KK and Mr I were the same but as time went on I could see the difference and changed my mind....I still think there are multiple IDs, but never thought that it mattered in fact thought about doing it myself....its creativity , not subterfuge to me....some of the creations are so bizarre and obvious that I am surprised the bulk of folk do not notice it....anyway it has given us a controversy feeding frenzy ....just what we like eh ahem....I hope that Mr I gets a clean bill of health and is restored....Mr I is a one off that deserves better than this....congratulations even....Do not know what the board was like a couple of years ago I first plugged in Easter 2007 during the long JLU threads....I think Hh has been a interesting board within a board....anyway....

I have always thought KK had a couple of aliases and I imagined every knew who they were. Doesn't one have rather a conservative taste in big band jazz?

I hope you aren't calling those musical revolutionaries Thad Jones and Mel Lewis conservative.

Well, it seems Mr. Improv. has been restored as his alter ego Yoko but I don't know if I buy that ISP explanation.
When I was banned from the BBC (and Morticia will remember this clearly) we were just larking around and being silly (wot, us?) about Jamie Oliver, turkey twizzlers and a certain Roger Wright. Lo and Behold I got the usual "your post has been removed" but then when I went to log on I was told I could not access the site. Now, whether they did this by ISP banning or not I do not know. Unfortunately I cannot remember my original log in so can't see if I am still banned. However, I got no email to tell me what had happened and my emails to find out what had occurred never were answered.
I do know that Peter the Host on Jass Bored will be sorely missed. In fact, if this was not cyberspace, I think we should have a whip-round for a leaving present!

I do know that Peter the Host on Jass Bored will be sorely missed. Even I remember Peter with fondness and I was hardly a regular at the Jass Bored not myself being in any meaningful sense a Jäzzer. Does Peter ever pop along here?

Does Peter ever pop along here? Peter did used to have a jazz blog but it closed last Summer, I don't think he has ever looked in on here, as he is leaving his BBC Host duties maybe he is doing more musically? He did manage to keep some kind of order on the anarchy that occasionally (usually) broke out!!! You must admit, that MB is the most idiosyncractic but also one of the most passionate and well informed MBs of the BBC. The depth of knowledge is quite amazing.

As he too has been ejected by the BBC Commissionaire, could Peter be persuaded to join us here? It's good to see the jazz bit of this board up to something again.

I think the disaffected of the R3 Crassical Bored can certainly assure the correspondingly disaffected of the R3 Jass Bored that although nothing can ever replace what the R3 boards used to be, this place has brought us something which in its own way is at least as satisfying. (Once again I think it's time for a round of sincere thanks to Michael for his work in setting up this forum.) I did shed quite literal tears at the demise of the classical board as it was. I don't really miss it now though. I do hope that wherever the R3 jazz community ends up regrouping (and I for one would be entirely happy should you all (however many of you there actually are ) come to feel comfortable here) you have more or less equivalent feelings in a few months' time.

I too shed many a tear at the tearing apart of the Crassical Bored, from when I landed on it I learnt so much, but now, I somehow do not want to participate. It's not the friendly place it was. Somewhere a dog barkedly, endlessly. A single shot ran out.
